That's what I was imagining too. Not good.

True enough, wouldn't work alongside Knight.I just like the idea of having a centre half who isn't laid back and nice all the time.Bruce Rioja wrote:Mate - I've seen the Queen Mary turn faster. Like I said solid gutsy player, fans favourite, talent for memorable feck ups.
Let Dunne attack the ball and put him alongside someone with a bit of pace and mobility and he'd do a good job.Cahill or Ricketts might combine well with him.Realistically Dunne is the kind of player we could sign and we do need someone to compete for a place in central defence.

Re: January transfer window...
That's some comedown for two stroppy players who left City because of lack of first team opportunities and thought they'd get a crack at the Villa whip
Re: January transfer window...
According to the every reliable 'Click Lancashire' we're interested in AC Milan defender Onyewu, Holden's American compatriot. The other bit of news is that Fulham are interested in Matty Taylor, I think that would be terrible business

Depends who we've targeted as Taylor's replacement. Re: January transfer window...
He's only played about 3 times in the last 2 years! He's only still at AC because he plays for free (literally). He looked poor at Newcastle for the few games he played too!

Why do we need to replace Taylor at all? He currently *still* looks like our best left winger, why on earth would we let him go to another team in the league.truewhite15 wrote:Depends who we've targeted as Taylor's replacement. We're 7th and he's getting pitch time, so I doubt he'd want to go either.

I was simply replying to the possibility of Taylor leaving. Given that he's getting pitch time, I can't see it either, but if he DID, then I'd happily see the back of him if we got, say, Adam Johnson as his replacement.Choppers wrote:Why do we need to replace Taylor at all? Re: January transfer window...
To raise funds for his own man? Coyle has been banging on about changing the style, but to do this he needs to mould the team into his own. If he doesn't see Taylor as the man to play an aggresive, quick, attacking, expansive game, then who are we to argue.
Taylor has undoubted qualities. His nack of getting in the box and chipping in with goals has been excellent in the past few season, less so this.
But he's also incredibly slow for a winger and can be extremely sloppy in possession, meaning that a lot of the times, the move breaks down with him.
If he crossed a ball in every game like he did against Everton, he'd be first choice at most clubs. As it stands he doesn't

Re: January transfer window...
Petrov is nowhere near as quick as he once was either. If I were to choose between the two, I'd keep Taylor at the moment. I think it's hilarious to have a go at Taylor for being sloppy in possession considering how many times Petrov shoots wildly when there is a better option on.
People are on one hand arguing for buying Charlie Adam for squad depth and on the other justifying getting shot of proven quality in Taylor.

Re: January transfer window...
Even if Petrov isn't as quick as he used to be, he's still probably the fastest player at the club.

not as fast as Riga!H. Pedersen wrote:Even if Petrov isn't as quick as he used to be, he's still probably the fastest player at the club.

Re: January transfer window...
Riga, quickest player. EVER. FACT!
Taylor won't go in January because he knows we're on a good run t the moment, he's getting game time and the ESL loves him

Re: January transfer window...
Petrov seems to make an impact coming off the bench at home.
When he starts or away from home he seems fairly useless.
Away at Sunderland being a prime example. We carried him. He gave the ball away, shied away from tackles wouldn't track back or work at all and his end product was non existent.
Taylor works hard and probably delivers better crosses over all.
Not sure where I stand currently on selling Taylor as I can see longer term he probably doesn't fit. But I'd certainly not want Petrov starting every game currently either and Taylor does provide some balance for an out and out winger on t'other side.
Can't see OC selling Matty in January, more likely the summer I'd say, if at all.

I think this will be one of the more interesting windows as we've been linked with some many players and depending on who you read vastly different sums of money

Re: January transfer window...
I think it will be a quiet window. Judging by Coyle's comments there ain't much money to spend (and hardly surprising).TKIZ! wrote:I think this will be one of the more interesting windows as we've been linked with some many players and depending on who you read vastly different sums of money
And why would Eddie gamble on spending when everyone knows January is a bad time to spend when you're after bargains, when we're already on 26 points?
Lets face it, success does not depend on European football or even the top 8 currently for Bolton Wanderers and the board will not be tempted to gamble.
Unless of course Cahill goes, then things might change, but personally I don't see Cahill leaving in Jan!

Re: January transfer window...
As usual i expect us to be linked to a fair few players but cant see too much serious business going on..in fact the only way i can see us buying a mid-big name, someone like samba/dunne, is if the inevitable happens and cahill is sold although again i cant see that happening in january, especially as his main suitor arsenal dont look too prepared to open the purse strings at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised to see Danny Ward recalled as cover for Chung-Yong in January and to feature prominantly in (our long and successful) f.a cup run. Apart from that maybe the odd championship player i've never heard of or a young talent on loan (Gai Assulin from Man City perhaps) will be the order of the day..however im usually wrong which means...Sergio Ramos from Real anyone??

Dream on. One of my favourite players and a man I'd just love to see in Bolton shirt, but I doubt it ever happening.wanderers_on_tour wrote: ...Sergio Ramos from Real anyone??

Before he played at Real it was rumoured Sam went after him on loan.
