Can't see that happening as they are signing Sidwell, who are they likely to drop from Noble/Parker/Sidwell to make way for Ireland?
Is this true? Their midfield would be like a sliding scale of footballing ability.

Parker is very good, Noble is mediocre, Ireland was very good but is now a bit shit, Sidwell was mediocre but is now so shit it's scarcely believable.

Good luck to them.

West Ham said Parker is the one player they won't sell. Though a Holden/Parker combination would be terrific.

Pair up Dunne and O Brian. Opposition strikers wouldn't get a look in

Being linked with this guy again,

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/ ... on-striker" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thought he was a good player but his record isn't brilliant

He didn't do too bad agin us.

This is obviously lazy journalism. Everyone knows, that we're after Veloso...

He's not really a striker though.

He was a good player with an attitude problem. If they're letting him go for 500k I can only assume the latter hasn't gone away. I can't see it.

Aaaah Sporting Lisbon again. Don't see this happening and agree it is more likely just lazy journalism.

I don't see why we get linked with Veleso every time a transfer window opens, I thought it might stop under Coyle but apparently not, he wants to move to a CL side, he's been quoted as saying the several times, by all means, none of them want him so he's going to play for Sporting Lisbon for a while but still. Keep the targets simple this year, it's January, you don't want to upset the team's rythem so a replacement center back and a decent striker, maybe the one quoted up there? (I personally don't know who that is?)

Just keep it simple.

We haven't been. We have been linked with Vukcevic, who we have been linked with before. Welcome to the site and get used to the odd comment by posters regarding Veloso as it has become a bit of a joke on the site due to the numerous times we have been linked with him.

He played against us in the Euro League (or whatever it's called this week) at the 'Bok and scored their goal. Looked pretty good in the second half if memory serves.

Veloso is a standing joke on here after Megson said signing him "would be like putting a tiara on a Shire horse" and we were linked with him for a number of transfer windows. We did put in some sort of bid but were millions of miles away on our valuation compared to theirs (think they wanted about 15m Euro or something stupid at the time)

I'd seen the joke before, I've been here before but my e-mail got hacked so I've head to re-join, I just thought with the comment and football365 mentioning him again, it was "that time of the year again.."

He's already moved anyway. Genoa and that.

Vukcevic would be ace - though my recollection of him was as a mercurial speedy left winger, and haven't we already got one of those?

Guess we're both wrong then - I had him down as an attacking centre mid. :-)

I had him down as a left footed attacking midfielder.. So in effect all 3 of us are right!

I reckon Vukcevic would be a great signing for us, especially at that price.

He would be great as backup on the wings.

Backup? Nah, he'd be first pick if he could find his form.

Not the sort of player who'd be happy on a bench is he?!
