All this talk in the media of how it might have been "harsh" if given irks me.

If a player puts his arms out and stops a shot on goal, then it's a penalty. Harsh or not, thems the rules. As an outfield player, you have no business putting your arms there when a shot is taken. Terry has gotten away with this for at least our last two visits to the bridge now.

Oh also, what do people think of Petrov's performance? People were saying he should start but he came on fresh and was awful!

Holden was taken off (imho) because he was exhausted, ran himself into the ground.

Clearly the best side in the first half. In fact Chelsea were woeful. Overall we deserved a point, but nothing to be disappointed about. We didn't deserve any points against West Brom and got 3. Can't believe only 2 months ago Chelsea were favoured to run away with the league. They look nothing of the sort.

Apart from the blackpool game when he played central Petrov has generally been poor.
Drogba was in line with Ricketts so onside.Malouda the eventual goalscoring was offside but not deemed to be interfering with play. That rule is designed to feck fans off.
Terry does have a habit of handling and getting away with it.It's galling but on this occasion it was less deliberate than previous ones. From what I saw the game was refereed well. There were a few times where Bolton players could have been booked given the theatricals and location but they weren't.When a bunch of one eyed buggers like us can't agree following numerous slow mo replays of the incidents then a referee in real time at Stamford Bridge can't fairly be criricized for not giving them.
We should be looking to beat Liverpool but it's odd that inspite of the confidence Coyle appears to have instilled in the team we still appear to lack belief against some of the bigger clubs.
At least now we seem able to beat the poorer clubs for which I am eternally grateful

I liked Holden's effort on snapping Essien in two - if only he had succeeded.

Can't say I'm too disappointed or surprised by the result yesterday. I think we have missed a decent opportunity to finally bag a win against the top 4 as Chelsea were very poor at both ends of the pitch, but we need to fire on all cylinders to beat whatever Chelsea team turns up and we weren't.

We got 2 or 3 very good chances, Taylors in the first half was a decent one - he certainly created room for himself; and as mentioned the Ricketts one was the best of the game for us.

I thought Ricketts played Drogba on-side for the goal, he was certainly 2 yards behind the defensive line - enough to put doubt in the linesman's mind. The handball, well you've seen them given but it would have been mighty generous.

Ultimately I think the passing and decision making still needs to improve a lot. Lots of balls punted into space, lots of % balls and fanciful flicks. We need some composure and confidence to keep the ball in the middle of the park and pull people out of position. It'll come, I'm sure.

They've put four past us on the last couple of occasions - so let's just view this as progress

Wandering Willy thinks there's a touch of plastic amongst the Chelsea flowers.

As a referee, I have to say that I would never have given the handball against Terry, his arm wasn't out from the body and it struck the upper part of the arm which was flat to his side. The standard of assistant refereeing this season has been appalling IMHO, sod's law that we get one who gets it right for once, Drogba was onside, Ricketts stepped up too late.

Their side cost over 300 million quid, I'm not devastated by the result, I'm proud. Yes we deserved something perhaps, but its New Years Eve tomorrow and we're in 6th.

6TH!!!!!!!!!!!

We were good enough for a point.

Terry and Cashley hounding the referee after every decision (that had usually gone thier way anyway) was annoying, it's w*nkers like that who turn people off watching England.

Drogba and Malouda kicking out constantly, the referee does nowt and then throwing themselves to the floor after fair challenges, and the referee gives a free kick.

As for the handball, if it had been the other way round - he'd have given them the penalty, sad but true.

I didn't expect to win, but the way we lost was annoying.

Does make you realise that Man Utd winning another title isn't a bad thing. All the rich clubs have diving cheats for players and unrealistic/deluded glory-hunters following them.

H. Pedersen wrote:Here's what pisses me off about the Terry handball: he does it all the time. Now officials obvious compare notes and have decided that Davies backs in too much, Diouf goes down too easily, etc. so why haven't they similarly conspired to award handballs against Terry?

They have, and decided that former England captain and big four player John Terry is allowed to jump with his arms stretched out and it isn't a penalty. Odd thing is the guidelines seem to indicate if you run around with your arms constantly out like wings and don't move them, then it shouldn't be handball. Thing is though, you see referees give them every week on other players yet Terry gets away with four or five a season.

His dive in the center circle, a good 2 seconds after the contact was made, was the stuff of legend. I honestly thought the ref would book him but I guess that was asking for too much. A FK was awarded in his favor, of course.

Oh and who was that woman they kept showing on TV, before and during the game? She was with some frumpy old man but she was delicious.

Yea, and the commentator said "I think his momentum carried him there". Obviously not au fait with the laws of physics!

Aye, his momentum carried him a good ten yards without hearing the whistle and his dive was blatantly embarrasing. Should have been carded.
