Fine. He's seen fit to tar all fans with the same brush, so I do.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Great, Sean Davis was good for Portsmouth. Didn't realize that somehow invalidated my observation that he wasn't very good in the games he managed for us. My apologies.

Can't we all just get along peeps? HWSNBN was an idiot, like everyone says you can't round on the fans and expect they will sing your praises

except that wasn't your observation at all - you are changing it. Bruce did you the courtesy of quoting your entire post in it's total completeness, thusly:

absolutely NOTHING in there about "games he managed for us".

He doesn't say Megson was really shit though.

You're right. I was unclear, therefore Bruce was well within his rights to call me an "absolute cock."

well at least the two if you agree over one thing...

he did also call you a "clever Herbert" - which I thought was quite touching - and showed Bruce's gentler nature...

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I think it's a bit harsh to edit Sean Davis out of BWFC's history...

Indeed, and is there any other description befitting a man that has suggested on this very forum that Tottenham, a club of rich Jewish heritage, might conduct their transfers by offering Nazi gold? I think not! dy:)

Lets face it, first season Megson did his job, one way or another.

Second season he did the required job of getting us back into the lower mid table area.

From there it went pear shaped but thankfully Gartside acted quickly enough to save things.

As much as I understand why Megson alienated the fans, I don't think what he actually said is half as bad as people make out. He had no PR skills and seemingly after initially starting well managing players (see Jussi's comments) he couldn't do that longer term.

To be honest as a firefighter he's probably ok. Come in sort things out, turn it around, I could see him doing that especially at clubs like Preston. But obviously longer term he doesn't have the vision or passion to pull people with him, or at least perhaps he doesn't communicate those things well enough.

I doubt he'll be remembered "fondly" but the job he did allowed us to be where we are now, and for that I'm thankful.

Agree. If he hadn't come in when he did there is a good chance we would have been relegated with not a great chance of getting back up. He brought in some pretty good players although few showed it while he was managing. He also deservedly got fired when he did because he was unable to manage and take the club forward in any way what so ever. He could keep us up but that was all.. Still he deserves some credit for the players he brought in even if at a cost and keeping us in the premier league. With the egos and attitude of players in the game today though he was woefully inadequate in dealing with them. Big Sam knew which players needed a kick up the butt and which players needed a pat on the back. Megson only knew how to scream at players. Not going to work in the game today. Anyway I have moved on, and only hope over time everyone else can move on as well. We are still in the PL, and doing just fine right now so lets enjoy. Most teams would be envious of our position right now and even two years ago.
