Re: January transfer window...
Give over Megson-hater, we have four strikers. One has barely seen action (Blake) and you always have the option of going one up front. Unless Mandy goes, there is no need to bring another one in spending wage budget and possibly transfer budget when we don't have cover for the centre halves and barely enough to cover the centre of midfield.

I wasn't aware that it was a mutually exclusive deal.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Fair dos it's not, but we only have one loan place left IIRC, and the finances aren't great. I should think we could survive with four strikers, given we're only using 3

I'm pretty confident that having released AOB and Brick Shittu, Coyle realises the need for defensive cover. The Vela deal still looks incredibly tempting though.

Personally I think we need to give Coyle the benefit of the doubt as he's earned it in my eyes. He knows what he's doing
Pfffft.

What would Owen want with defenders? We attack!!!

What about Gudjohnsen or Robbie Keane?! If this was a game of Football Manager, I'd be in for one of them or both! Pulis is willing to let Eidur go, and Keane is now being touted for bloody Wolves. Both of them would be fantastic signings for us.

As a left-footed goalsniffer, Vela would arguably offer an improvement on Klasnic. Not sure that's our greatest need, but as has been noted, you can't always put your ducks in the right order. If Coyle isn't aware that we need a defender, he's probably clinically insane.

Outrageous! Loan deals for both would be feasibleEast Lower wrote:Too old, too lazy, too shit, too expensive. Both.MJH-12 wrote:What about Gudjohnsen or Robbie Keane?! Both excel in the second-striker role which few clubs are currently playing. And both would want too much of our precious, precious wage-bill. Sorry MJH, but I would worry about signing either.

Fair point. I'm just caught up in the idea of seeing my favourite two all time Bolton players up front together (Eidur & SKD)

You think so? Okay, Klasnic struggles to play 90 minutes, but Elmander and Davies (who are both better than Vela) don't. So I don't think it's an area that needs strengthening, unless Elmander was to leave, which I can't see in January. (In fact I'll wager he signes a new deal after the Jan transfer window)Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:As a left-footed goalsniffer, Vela would arguably offer an improvement on Klasnic. Besides, I think Klasnic himself, is better than Vela. He'd certainly be ahead of him in the Arsenal pecking order.
That makes him 4th choice here. And why use somebody else's promising youngster to sit on the bench, when we have our own?

As much as I've not been massively impressed with young Vela's end product so far, its clear he has massive potential. If we added him which still is a big if, I'd be pretty happy as he'd give us another different type of option. Full international bit of premiership experience behind him, clearly very skillfull. On a loan is a bit of a no brainer really.boltonboris wrote:You think so? Okay, Klasnic struggles to play 90 minutes, but Elmander and Davies (who are both better than Vela) don't. I can see what you are saying about "where would he play"? But one injury/suspension could change that. Perhaps Coyle would like to rest one of the front lads for a while. Perhaps he sees one of them, or Vela playing wide.
I'd be happy with it, BUT we must address our lack of midfield and defensive options aswell IMO.

Re: January transfer window...
Well Wenger has him down as 'first choice or no-no'. Which may lead to a no-no as far as we're concerned!
I wouldn't be too bothered either way. If he was signed as a 'left sider' that will p*ss Petrov off no-end!

Petrov shooting from 40 yards out, with 5 minutes to go, when we're holding out for a draw, pisses me off no-end!
Djorkaeff ... Djorkaeff must score ... he does ... HE DOES !!!

Not a fan of his at all. After he threw a hissy fit for being substituted, followed by the said ridiculous long range shooting, he is bench fodder for mejonnybwfc wrote:Petrov shooting from 40 yards out, with 5 minutes to go, when we're holding out for a draw, pisses me off no-end!

You don't shoot you don't score. Simples.
Re: January transfer window...
here's a new one...
According to reports a number of clubs across Europe are chasing Birmingham City midfielder Sebastian Larsson.
Skysports.com claims Bolton Wanderers are one of several clubs in the hunt for the Sweden international who has yet to agree a new contract at St Andrews.
The former Arsenal player’s current deal is due to expire in the summer and he is now free to talk to foreign clubs and could move on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season.
It is understood that Wanderers will be battling with Liverpool, Newcastle United, Everton, West Ham, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland from the Premier League along with Atletico Madrid and Valenica on the continent.
Larsson's former Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is believed to be leading the pack when it comes to the English clubs.
