Re: Wiggin
Missed Holden desperately. Rodrigo offered as much as CYL. And scored a great goal. Muamba and Davies don't work well. Central midfield the major problem in a turgid first half where only Rodrigo and - again - Robbo came out with credit.Gaz Tomorrow wrote:I think we've missed the flare of Holden and CYL.
Much better all round in second half. Petrov brilliant in last 15 mins. If you could get that performance out of him for 90 mins... well... he wouldn't be playing for Bolton...
Their goal was sloppy play from us all along the pitch... But their 3rd choice keeper looks better than the second... Does anyone have news of Kirkland?
Understandable that the crowd was so thin - but very, very disappointing...

Who's bashing him? I thought he took his goal excellently, but outside of that his end product was abysmal. No point beating your man easily and then scuffing your cross along the floor.
He's promising, but still a million miles away from making me think he'd be £5mil well spent.
And he did an awful lot more today than Elmander, Taylor and Kevin Davies did. Tracks back well too.
Has pace skill and touch. And on early evidence seems to have the right attitude.
On the evidence I've seen so far I'd say he'd be a very good buy indeed, doubt we can afford him though! And if the fee is 5M then I'd say, compare him with Muamba. I know who I'd rather spend 5M on based on the past few games evidence!
Don't get Bolton fans bashing a 19 year old kid who did more than just about any of our starters tonight. Played Ricketts in a couple of times with some lovely balls.
Like I said, he's promising and that's it. Luckily we don't buy players based on 'the past few games'.

Re: Wiggin
dunno whats more disappointing, not beating that shite this season or not taking any points whatsoever of Woys Liverpool....bye bye Woy!
Poor result. We don't look like a top half team at the moment. We need freshening up....I'm convinced Holdens injury is in part brought on by f*cking running his b*llocks off all season. MArk Davies good little player, but a centre mid in a 442? Not yet.
Sean Davis would probably walk in that team at the moment.....shame he cant walk!
And that kids time off for christmas? They not back yet? All the schools round here are!!
Shocking our bench when compared with them.....and I hadn't heard of their subs either!!

Oh and yeah that front line needs freshening up.
Get Davies and/or Elmander dropped for a match or two. Rest em, show em they aren't automatic places.....wtf wrong with Klasnic?

What did I say? Cold and frustrated. The Premier League at it's best. 4th round of fixtures in 2 week, and this is what gets served up.
We looked as we looked in the last half hour against Liverpool and Chelsea - tired, big time. Too tired to make runs, making poor decisions and being out-battled. And I am a little bit frustrated that Coyle didn't shake it up earlier an each game as we conceded goals when tired. Petrov and Blake looked like world-beaters when they came on! Just because they were fresh, had a clear head and tried to play something resembling football.
Muamba is getting a tough cookie to defend. His passing today was utterly woeful, had the touch of an elephant and his defending isn't on it either. Finding the best long-term partner for Holden is massively important.
Oh and Rodrigo...no end product.

Put it this way, if someone watched the game today and were told Muamba was bought for 5M then I can only imagine they'd put Rodrigo down as a 20M pound player.Tombwfc wrote:If you were offered him tomorrow for £5mil would you take him?BWFC_Insane wrote:That would be a young 19 year old who might be worth somewhere near 5M surely?Tombwfc wrote:Who's bashing him? I'm not the one who calls the shots, I don't know what money we have available and how much he'd cost. But Coyle seems to rate him, And thats good enough for me. From what I've seen 5M wouldn't be obscene. Obviously we probably don't have the money to tempt Benfica so its probably a moot point anyways.
Re: Wiggin
I honestly think Muamba was just completely knackered tonight, and most of his mistakes were a result of tired legs and tired mind. Has he played every minute of these 4 games in a midfield 2 having to run round chasing Liverpool and Chelsea's 3s? I think he just needs a break as much as the others.
As for Elmander, did he touch the ball in the first 40 minutes? Seriously don't remember seeing him do so. Davies looked jaded as well, meaning there was zilch movement up top.

feck* undone by a wigan fullback! shocking goal to concede!
Muamba is probably shattered....the way we play means him and Hoklden have to run around non stop for 90 minutes harassing and chasing, we need some bodies man, desperately
Re: Wiggin
Just got back from the match after meeting the very down to earth Jonny Blase, good bloke. Both said Rodrigo had a good game, good goal but his crossing is poor. Taylor again frustrates and delights in equal measure, his crossing can be sublime but no pace whatsoever. SKD looks like a man playing with something on his mind (obvious reasons for this, I hope his Brother in Law gets better soon)
When we have to counter attack we are caught waiting for players to catch up. We missed Holden, Klasnic and CYL (although for obvious reasons we have't got him at the moment) but we need some more pace (Vela, please?) and some midfield cover
Anyway, to the idiots who had a go at Coyle at the end from the ESL, GET A GRIP!

Re: Wiggin
I don't think £5m on Rodrigo in the summer would be the worst piece of business the club has done. But lets see how he pans out before then.
As for the rest, our small first team squad need a rest. Sorry William. Though if Petrov and Blake are starting, we still have a good chance.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Wiggin
Wigan were hardly running rings round us, and they've probably changed things a bit over the period. They were just as sloppy and time wasting from the start wanting it to be over. How often did they make basic mistakes letting the ball roll under feet and out of play or did Rodallega get his feet messed up. It was a game between 2 very, very tired sides and it showed.BWFC_Insane wrote:I think tiredness is a factor but not an excuse.jimbo wrote:I honestly think Muamba was just completely knackered tonight, and most of his mistakes were a result of tired legs and tired mind. Re: Wiggin
Thats my point Tom its one game. But on the evidence so far he looks a player.
What he's worth and what we can afford to spend on him are two entirely different things.
He went for around 5M to Benfica and since then he's got some premiership games and not looked out of place. He'll get a run so lets see how he does.
Right now the focus should be improving upon Muamba and bringing in some cover for the back four. And I'm sure thats what Coyle is looking at.
