£2m ?? Not bad longer term, either, if that's true.MerryMez wrote:Arsenal striker Carlos Vela is wanted on loan by Spanish side Valencia, with a view to a £2m permanent deal in the summer according to the Sun.
Don't need him but why not if its a loaner. Cover for Holden and Cahill priority (stating the obvious)..
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Wheater and Vela without Cahill leaving til the summer would be fookin brilliant. Thats what i make of it.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

If I were being greedy I'd want another young CB too, ready for when GC goes but aye, looks like good business, providing Cohen is back. Otherwise I think we need another body in midfield.

Well it would be nice to have the pick of the pack in terms of young CBs but I don't think that's where we're at right now. We need cover for Cahill/Knight immediately. Perhaps Knight can step up into that leadership role once Cahill is gone, as we've seen slight glimpses of during the latter's absences due to suspension/injury.CAPSLOCK wrote:Wheater?

Re: January transfer window...

Wheater would be just fine for me. Still of a decent age and very affordable.
Re: January transfer window...
It's not often you find a young centre back that is a leader though, is it?
As for Vela/Rodrigo. I don't believe any stories that Arsene will let Vela go permanently, so in that respect, I think Rodrigo is a better option.
That said, one plays right wing, the other left or up front...not sure it's an issue we'd need worry about.
We're Bolton and if we can get Vela for half a season, just like with Wilshere, we should grab that opportunity with both hands. I don't think Vela is of the same quality as Wilshere, but he's still a decent player.

Rodrigo moved for £6m and signed a 5 year deal. Why is he a better option?

Wheater's Boro's captain isn't he?
Would be a cracking signing. Young and cheap, maybe on a fair whack wage wise mind.
