Personal opinion, but I found the entire situation a bit odd.

Benfica and Bolton wanted him, Benfica purchased him almost immediately loaned him to the other club that wanted him.

Unless my understanding of that situation was wrong?

Micah Richards wants out of City. Do we have a chance?

according to the super soaraway...
Bolton boss Owen Coyle would let Johan Elmander join Liverpool, provided the Merseyside outfit match the Trotters' valuation.

The Swedish international is due to fall out of contract in the summer but despite Bolton's best efforts to get him tied down to a new one, there is every chance he will be on the move as early as January.

There has been interest from Stoke City and Newcastle United, but Coyle says the striker would only be tempted by a move to Liverpool and would not blame him if he wanted to leave for Anfield.

"Ultimately, if and when - it's hypothetical at the moment - something came out and he said, 'I'd like to try that', I wouldn't have any problem with it," Coyle revealed.
why would coyle offload elmo to liverpool only to go there himself and be saddled with elmo on a long contract? :conf:

I smell bull on this one to be honest.

Rodrigo only joined Benfica as part of the di Maria deal, if they feel they can make more money out of it, Portuguese Super League is in terrible trouble because the country is in financial meltdown

The Vela deal only makes sense if Elmander goes. That could work on some levels, but he is still our top scorer.

Not that that's stopped us farming him out on the right in recent games.

spotted this on the interweb just now...
(Coyle) “I had a chat with Benfica and told them I would give him a platform, and if they want to sell him, I’d love to buy him.”
Any transfer could theoretically be complicated by the fact that Real Madrid inserted a £10m buy back clause on his departure to Benfica, which could be activated at any time over the next 18 months.

It's Rodrigo's own fault if he's not happy, he turned us down to go to Benfica originally... he should drink a pint of concrete and toughen the feck up.

Rodrigo didn't turn us down. He was part of the di Maria deal, he had a bit of a say but essentially it was pretty much decided for him

Wasn't Alonso also destined to be part of that deal, but he told 'em he'd rather not bother?

Possibly chief, not sure. Either way Real have a £10m buy back clause so they must believe in Rodrigo coming good.

Both of them were, Real gave them the choice come here or go there... Alonso came here, Moreno didn't he decided to go to Benfica, mores the shame as he looks the real deal.

Wouldn't be surprised if Alonso had a buy back clause as well to be honest. Real tend to work that way.

Both deals took a long time because Real put a lot of pressure on the players and their agents (their fathers in both cases) to go to Benfica to help the Di Maria deal along. Both resisted but Rodrigo was eventually worn down as his father was convinced by Real that a move to a country where they speak the same language would be easier.

I think he probably wishes he'd stuck to his guns now.

I'm pretty sure he does. Remember something along that line.

Why?

Let's not be ashamed of our admiration for the Youngs. A fine family.

Musical pedigree, too, with Neil, his son Paul and grandson Will. I have posters of them, and all. Slightly stained, now, of course, but posters nonetheless
