Isn't the view that we now play good football and used to play shit football under previous managers shared by most of this board?

Wasn't that one of the reasons we appointed Coyle?

I'm not getting what he said that was so offensive.

I reckon most of the replies are more standard banter than meant offensively Tom. Name of the game with opposition fans surely?

Possibly, it's quite hard to tell with the internet. 'Jog on dickhead' seemed a bit extreme.

I thought the most offensive thing about the original post was the admission that he listens to David Guetta in his car.

Which frankly is reason enough to hurl abuse at the guy.

First of all it depends on how you define 'good football'. The reason we appointed Coyle was I assume because our football wasn't good enough in the points sense, not what he was saying.

Secondly, and more importantly, imagine I went onto an Arsenal forum starting a thread that said that: in all probability they would get dicked by Barcelona, and, that given the resources and finances they have they should have a much greater trophy yield over the last five years, and that they can cry 'ethical running of football club' all they want as a defence, but that wouldn't put any more trophies in the cabinet even if it were true, which it patently isn't given this 'ethical' club's pressure on councils for voluntary purchase orders. Also, no-one else is impressed or cares about their fancy 'brand' of football which many (not including myself actually) don't find particularly 'attractive'. Also their pride in 'not buying the title' seems missplaced since a. their method isn't actually winning them any titles, and b. even if it did all they do is buy the best young players in the world and wait a bit. Also, I noticed that one of their players names rhymes with the lyrics of a recent N'Dubz song.

I reckon I'd be openly welcomed. That's even if I didn't use condescending phrases like whatever the opposite of 'kick and rush' is. Also, kick and rush, isn't that a synonym for 'pass and move'?

I just think he was driving in his car, listening to shit music, when he came up with that song idea and decided he needed to share it. Rather than just post it he prefaced by trying to say something inoffensive and complimentary about us so we wouldn't start calling him a 'dickhead' (credit: jaffka). The rest of the stuff came later.

And style of football, as well as results was one of the reasons we appointed Coyle. Way back when he was appointed, no-one really thought challenging for Europe was achieveable on our budget (and of course, it still may prove that it isn't) so the general idea I think was to maintain the mid-table mediocrity seen in Megson's second season, but with a style of play that would attract the missing thousands back.
Phil Gartside wrote:"Hopefully we can unify the whole place again, under a leader, and in football terms, under someone who can actually now express himself more on the pitch, and begin to attract the fans back as well,"

"After seven years of playing a certain type of football, we've now got to entertain a bit more and recognise that's the business we're in."

To be honest, bar a jaffka fingering, it was all pretty civil considering. Until he over-reacted, then we were patronised by the Arsenal fan (I'm sure they only have two settings - "patronising whingebag" and "hypocritical whingebag")

Everything else was a reaction to that.

I added the 'credit' bit, because you were so keen on taking the credit for it the first time I mentioned it. It was tongue-in-cheek.

Like I said, hard to tell with the internet. Still, serious place these days.

The entertainment is only a bonus though, surely. We weren't playing 'shit' football under Allardyce, and to go away from the attractiveness argument we weren't playing 'kick and rush' which implies we muddled through games, when in fact we were very organised.

Back to the original guy. I'm sure you are right with his intentions. He may have meant to cause no offence but when you come in with hackneyed bullshit stereotypes, people are going to call you on it. Especially when you are patronising with it.

I don't think that's entirely fair. This is, after all a fanzine for Bolton Wanderers and not a general football website. WUM's will always get stick but Gooner Girl (Arsenal) Fozzy (West Ham) and our recent Yorkists have all been well received. I think we sometimes give too much leeway considering the partisan nature of the website.

You get out what you put in.

it starts at 47 seconds on this song 'from here on out, im Johan Elmander.....no fear, no doubt, im Johan Elmander' the lyrics could be tampered with, but i hope you agree its got the makings of a winner :P :D

Christ if we started singing that about our top scorer I'd hate to think what we'd have to sing about the other 10!

didnt really want to, i actually wanted to praise Bolton this year, ive been saying all season how they have improved massively, still havent slagged you off in anyway, i did say Bolton werent Arsenals rivals, which is true in a way!

All im doing is sticking up for Arsenal, some of you lot started having a needless go at Arsenal, so im having my say
There is no such thing as a needless 'go' at Arsenal.

Bunch of cheating, whining, pathetic little tossbags - every single one. You and Tony Attwood. Cock off 8)
