If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

today I am mostly angry about the media presentation of science..

R4 has more than one serious discussion programme about the arts...

yet.. when I turn on the radio just now they have a sciencey programme about water molecules and how small they are

(apparently there are more water molecules in one teaspoon of water than there are teaspoons of water in all the world's oceans.)

anyway - to tell us this they found it necessary to have a submarine (complete with submarine noises) - a talking robot submarine navigator and no end of Doctor Who electronic sound effects - plus a presenter who must have imagined he was trying to describe the concept of BIG and SMALL to a class of particularly dense 2 year olds.

He's probably had an oil-painting of that done to hang over the fireplace in Megson Mansion.

Getting my web design work shot down. I spent so long doing these things only for them to be burnt from the foundations up.

All on an emotional level too. You shouldn't be too emotional about design, i.e. "I don't like the colour scheme".

they are simply holding a debate at a conference on the phenomenon of Take That's longevity as part of Salford University's musicology/music history department... what is so outrageous about that?

there is no (as some reports suggest) "Take That exam"
and no (as other reports hysterically suggest) "Degree in Take That"

it's a bit like suggesting my early schooling was a "degree in camping holidays" because the essay we had to write at the start of a new year was "what I did in the holidays".

Both subjects as camp as each other, I would suggest.

what if it was a conference on the longevity of Rimsky Korsakov?

anyway - my bad - rants don't have to be rational on this thread - it's the angry thread - and if you're angry about that - then fair enough! I apologise!

Oh yeah, for 'proper' client projects. I'm just working on my portfolio and getting annoyed because every iteration doesn't please me.

Then don't be. It took me a long time to learn that in general, the world doesn't give a f*ck, so why should I. Once I realised that, I became a much more relaxed and productive person.

Well, stop feeding 'em, TANGO. They'll sort themselves out - Mother Nature sees to that.

What you're doing is the equivalent of giving a dole bludger (that's not all who are on the dole) a handout equivalent to an MPs salary. :(

Bit of a late one, but I'm still angry so....
Michael Gove, basically for being Michael Gove.

On Question time on Thursday there were a number of teachers/headteachers in the audience, most of whom claimed to have voted Conservative, but all disagreed with his education reform plans. Did he listen to these people who have considerable expertise and were voicing valid concerns? Did he fook.

At which point I switched off as I couldn't look at his pasty white arrogant face any longer.

But since then I was browsing news and came across this.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ughby.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

With this great Gove quote in....
'I hope that everyone at the BBC gets the message. I would rather see Selina Scott and Joanna Lumley on my TV screens than Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton.’
Now Mr Gove I'm sure you would, but could you tell me when the BBC are required to get any sort of "message" from you about what and who YOU'D like to see on your screen? Indeed I agree with the general point about ageism and fair representation on the BBC. But as his two examples he's picked Willoughby an ITV employee and Fearne Cotton, a radio presenter and presenter of predominantly "youth TV shows". Is he suggesting that Selina Scott presents the Brits or Joanna Lumley presents Glastonbury or somesuch?

Grrrr.
