It is! Plenty of twists and turns, some more predictable than others. But Crowe (as always) is very good and even (the normally shocking) Affleck plays a good part. Helen Mirren doesn't play a particularly large part, but she doesn't need to. She can only do one scene and steal the whole limelightTANGODANCER wrote:Forgot to add, the wife bought "State of Play" Russell Crow, Ben Afflec and Helen Mirren. Supposed to be good.

I hate Russell Crowe. tend to swerve anything he does. same with Clive Owen.

I haven't seen the remake but I've got the original 6hr BBC version on DVD and that's brilliant.boltonboris wrote:It is! Plenty of twists and turns, some more predictable than others. In fairness, the Film makers do refer to it as 'the making of the BBC'

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Aye. Watched three episodes last night to catch up. I can see why The General bailed out midway through the second but it's definitely been worth sticking with and, as you say, is shaping up nicely.CrazyHorse wrote:Yeah, been watching it all week. Just got home and 5 minutes left of Australia - Korea is on. 1-1
Shameless in Australia is on SBS, but the DVDs are ABC and they have only just released Season 2.
I got Season 1 a year or so ago for pretty cheap.

RADIO IS FANTASTIC! A great dramatic medium, and, of course, the most visual medium by far. Who needs a screen when you've got the imagination?thebish wrote:an unexpected 9hr round trip to Teesside left me with a lot of radio to listen to today...
first 4 hrs - downloaded whole series of Stephen Fry "Fry's English delight" - which was (as indicated) - a delight!
then - several r4 afternoon plays what I had also downloaded - great fun - the miles flew past!
then - the aftermath of Nigel falling off the roof to his death in the Archers...
isn't radio great?

Hmm. Been OK. Although it has just delivered the line "dusty c*nted control freak", and anything that brings that to TV will do for me.Bruce Rioja wrote:Aye. Think I saw that a while back, but it could have been with The Sessions Band. Remember him doing "Oh Mary, don't you weep no more". Loved it.Harry Genshaw wrote:Sky plussed BBC 4s Sessions on Friday with Bruce Springsteen & The Pete Seegers Band. Absolutely beltin
