Re: January transfer window...
WTF is he saying (or is reported as saying) he wants to play for us? When do players ever say that?
Is this the fabled Coyle magic or something?

Re: January transfer window...
I've just read our team from the reserve match against Oldham:
Wanderers: Lynch, Riley, McQuade, Dennis, Eckersley (Irwin 77), Blakeman, Ward, Connolly, Eaves (Vela 77), O’Halloran, Obadeyi (McGeechan 77). Subs not used: Turner, Burns.
Um, do we have a youngster called 'Vela' then? I'm presuming Carlos hasn't been sneakily introduced to our squad?

I doubt it. Zat has been pretty consistent this season and has been up there for Player of the Year in my opinion. He's been a bit shabby over the last few weeks but so has everyone.

Ok, so you're saying 4 players in front of him. So he'd be 5th in your opinion? Still a contender.....which is what I meant when I said "up there". I'm not saying he has been player of the season. I think that's between Robbo & Holden at the minute

Ahh, figured we must do, cheers. All quiet on the Vela front then. I have to say I don't know that it'd be the perfect fit, I don't see how he'd get the regular starts he needs unless SKD took some time out.thebish wrote:Dartisan wrote:I've just read our team from the reserve match against Oldham:

Re: January transfer window...
morning roundup..
1. he won't be after Cahill then (having allegedly offered us £8mill!)
2. Samba won't be coming here!
translation - "SWP snubs interest from" = "Bolton think he is overpriced wank"Manchester City star Shaun Wright-Phillips is expected to snub interest from a host of Premier League clubs in favour a loan move to Fulham. Sunderland, Newcastle United, Everton, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa have all been linked with the 29-year-old England international this month, but it appears he will be linking up with former boss Mark Hughes. (Daily Mail)
I guess:Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made Blackburn Rovers defender Christophe Samba his top target this month and is ready to offer £7 million for the want-away Ewood Park star. (Daily Mirror)

it goes up every time someone opens their mouth - £25million now???Chelsea will not be pursuing a move for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill, after Owen Coyle placed a £25 million valuation on the England international. Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with the former Aston Villa youngster, but all likely to be deterred by the Trotters’ valuation of their star asset. (The Times)
not holding my breath....Bolton finalising deal for Middlesbrough defender Wheater today (tribal)

Think Wenger's waiting till after the League Cup semi second leg before making a decision. Not quite sure why.Dartisan wrote:All quiet on the Vela front then.

Re: January transfer window...
That can't be argued with, but I wouldn't be happy about it if Coyle rushed into a decision about loaning out a first-team fringer who was likely to play in a forthcoming semi-final.

Re: January transfer window...
I think we should all be worried about the fact that it is now January the 19th and we are still to sign one single player. I know we haven't got a lot to spend but you're not telling me Coyle hasn't seen the fatigue that is now setting in with certain players? Also the fact that we've struggled to field a full bench for a good month or 2 now is a very worrying issue. The league is so tight that if this bad run continues, we'll end up in the bottom half permanently.
Less speculation, more photos of players with the shirt please!

Re: January transfer window...
I agree with you, but I also have this niggling suspicion that Wheater will be signed any day now. I think more troubling however, is the fact that we haven't been linked with any central midfield players at all, which is where our thin squad is hurting the most.MJH-12 wrote:I think we should all be worried about the fact that it is now January the 19th and we are still to sign one single player.
