Re: david wheater
Hi there, Boro fan here.
David Wheater, burst through at Boro as a teenager after loan spells At Doncaster, Wolves and Darlington. Caught the eye next to Huth and was a real goal threat aswell as doing very well defensively. His form led Capello to call him up into 2 England squads and he continued his good form next to Woodgate. Unfortunately, and as a lot of young players do he lost his way for a year or so, struggling alongside different centre back partners. He was given the Boro captaincy but this didn't help his form and it appeared that once Huth was sold that Wheater was unable to be the dominant centre back in a partnership and he had a terrible run of form alongside loan signing Sean St Ledger. His form picked up when we signed McManus last season and this season he's gone from strength to strength and not only recaptured his early form but surpassed it. He seems to have grown up this season and other than a shit back pass against Watford has been our best player this season. He certainly won't be a benchwarmer for you and that is more than insulting considering his ability and the fact you have Zat Knight.
You've made an excellent signing and it's a sad loss for Boro. A great attitude and I hope one day he'll come back, hopefully when were back where we belong. Look after him.

No problem and you too. You've had a great season although seem to have lost your way a bit recently, where do you think you'll end up?Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Sounds positive, thanks for posting and good luck for the rest of the season
Re: david wheater
the plan - as ever - is to end up still in the premeirship - much more than that is a bonus!Lisbonlegend wrote:No problem and you too. let's hope he's right - cos that'd mean we have improved the squad - not just added numbers - which would be a good thing!

It's offishul - PSG..

Bolton Wanderers have announced the signing of defender David Wheater for an undisclosed fee from Championship outfit Middlesbrough.
The former England Under-21 defender has signed a three-and-a-half year deal and linked-up with him new team-mates for the first time on Thursday morning at the club's Euxton-based training complex.
The 23-year-old has previously been called up to the full England senior team on a number of occasions and has also worn the captain's armband for Middlesbrough.
Wheater already has vast amounts of Premier League experience with Middlesbrough, having accumulated over 150 appearances for Teeside club.
"I met with the manager and we had a good chat about football," Wheater told the club's official website. "I had a look around the facilities and it was a really easy decision to make.
"From what I've seen there is a really great atmosphere at the club and a real buzz about the place and I'm looking forward to working hard and showing the manager what I can do."
The central defender will need no introduction to the likes of Fabrice Muamba and Mark Davies, having previously played alongside the duo.

Happy with that.
Decent player, decent age and decent price. Two new fullbacks, another midfielder and two new strikers and we'll be on our way - easy.

Coyle's comments re Wheater deal.
Obviously we've used the bait of getting him back into England contention. Fair enough.

Most satisfactory.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Very pleased, also reintroduces the full-back competition element, which can only be a good thing.

Ironically Boro are looking to Abdoulaye Meite as a replacement.
Thats a name that should go in the "not with a barge pole" threat methinks!
