For what it's worth, my favourite veg of the peas and beans variety, in order of preference (and depending on the dish) are:
Mushy peas, butter beans, marrowfat peas, green beans, canalini beans...then the rest.

I have a confession. I hate mushy peas. And marrowfat peas. And just about any variation of pea other than garden peas!
I feel better now.
Love all bean varieties though!

So you lot are discussing Pommes Souffle and Petit Pois a la Francais? Very urbane.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Was served a starter in Spain once: "Guisantes" (which just means peas anyway) but it was just small tender peas in vinegar. Funnily enough, it was delicious.

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
My wife is working tonight - not back until about 9.00 - so I've got a whore's pasta sauce on a slow simmer, put a little extra garlic and chilli in it - and just decanted a new (to me) Sicilian red - a syrah. Giving it a little half glass taste right now, and tis delicious. Beautiful, clean fruit to the nose, soft, medium to slightly full. Don't know whether it's available in supermarkets, but I got from Virgin wines... ca' di ponti shiraz. £6.99 and well worth it... and will be brilliant with the pasta...

Here's a tip for you mate.. There's a little place called 'Wasabi' on the tip of China Town. Similar to YO! Sushi, but much cheaper. Cracking little restaurant and a decent selection of Asian beers.
