Maybe we didnt have to pay him off after all.
When we buy these players off like Riga and Shittu and they immediately go somewhere on a free it must be something where we aren't paying their full wages for the length of the contract. Surely!? Or after they sign for the new club, surely we get some kind of discount!?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

According to some random source on the internet....
14.13 Look away Bolton Wanderers fans, Carlos Vela's agent has apparently told Mexican TV that the Arsenal striker will join West Bromwich Albion on loan.

Starting to get very worried now. 3 full days to go, 1 signing all window and our latest 2 targets seemingly going elsewhere and staying put respectively.
Where's Salva Ballesta and Sebastien Puygrenier when you need them?!

Think Vela is dead in the water for us.

Ah well.

To be honest there aren't many players out there who I think will improve us who realistically are going for terms we could get near. I think we'll have to get on with it with what we've got.

I'm more intrigued who this Mr. Howarth is? :conf:

The sarcasm in that question is unmeasurable. It's off the chart!! I won't answer it!

Vela was never going to get the playing time Wilshere did.

We shouldn't take this as being offensive toward us, it's logical really for both parties.

Stephen Ireland still available, SWP 'deal' looks dead as Mancini has said on SSN that with Johnson injured SWP may get more playing time.

Rakitic off to Sevilla, that was never going to happen was it
Pfffft.

Hang on, aren't we racing certainties to sign Pavluyeuyochnko (or something)?

which actually happens to be overachievement given the club's resources etc.
Don't think Vela and SWP would have ripped up any trees. but please can we sign a midfield player or failing that look into some genetic means of cross breeding Moo and Mavis so we get to keep the athletic ball winning ball playing dribbler.
We can sell the other illbegotten progeny to Blackburn or some other mutant infested sewer club.Burnley perhaps?

And given that the last time we won a major trophy was 50 odd years ago, it probably shouldn't come as a huge shock.
