Could be worse, we're still in it. Looking forward to hearing what the lads who went have to say. Hard to fathom much from a radio commentary.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
Hate to say it but its like going back to the Megson days over the past 2 months...what a load of shite against Wigan's reserves
As usual little creativity & absolutely nothing upfront, a team of individuals (and poor individuals at that....), come on OC I thought you were better than this....
Yet another game without a goal....toothless !
If the current squad aint good enough - do something about it

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
Split my attention between this and the Asian cup final... as Tango said, the radio commentary gives you little indication of whats happening but didn't sound great. They did mention something about Petrov not happy when subbed again? If this is true he needs a right boot up the backside... the biggest disappointment for us so far this year, and by the sounds of it we looked more likely with Rodrigo on anyway.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
Well that felt like so many games have over the last 3 years or so at the Reebok - static, predictable and littered with mistakes.
I wouldn't have said it was a dull game, and I'm not sure how it stayed nil nil. Certainly Moses missed two great chances and Elmander had a great chance at the start of the game. Beyond that it was just frustrating - no end product, no fluidity and seemingly no plan at the moment.
There are positives, in a Sammy Lee-stylee: Wheater looked settled, he was tough, brave and did fine with the ball; Mark Davies looked something like running a midfield and had some exciting runs.
Beyond that I struggle. Jussi was lucky with a couple of spills, Ricketts got done every time, Taylor was wasteful with the ball and nothing is happening for the front two at the moment.
And of course, whilst we do clutch at whatever straws that are out there (clean sheet, yay) worth noting it was effectively against Wigan reserves.
Play like that Weds, we will lose.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
Never thought i'd say this with OC but he's becoming very predictable just like the strike force.
Why not use this game to try something different like Rodrigo up front with Elmander....looking forward to hearing his interview because they are becoming increasing like Megson's used to be....very repetitive and uninspiring !
I'm still 100% behind him (for now), but if he doesn't change things soon supporters opinions could change before the seasons out, and if come midnight on Monday he comes out with 'we'll go with what we've got' then he deserves any stick that he gets...he's had a month to bring players in and to change things after this 'everlasting' slump (after going on and on about our 'small squad' only having 3 subs etc....)
Why on earth does he stick with K Davies & Elmander upfront game after game after game....when its clearly not working

If ever there was a game to rest Kevin Davies, it was this one.
Oh and, maybe it's just me but :
Chung-Yong, Taylor, Rodrigo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Petrov

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
To add....for me OC's got to get off the fence and grow some balls and decide how he wants us to play, because we actually have decent players Holden, M Davies, Rodrigo who are very comfortable on the ball and can play an effective passing game, but others K Davies, Elmander, Muamba, Taylor (he is exceptionally fecking shite) etc....can't play in a footballing side because they are limited players, their 1st touches & movement are poor, mis controlling the ball etc on a regular basis which stops any fluent passing game....
So for me its make or break now for OC - he needs to finally decide how he wants to play and bring players in who fit in with that style, not continue to put square pegs in round holes.
I have to say though Wheater looked a decent player as did M Davies....I can't think of many others though (maybe Holden & Rodrigo), not surprising though as they are the only ones who can pass and are comfortable on the ball !!

Not sure where that comes from, most of our better moves today involved him. Nothing special by any means, but I'd be suprised if he misplaced (m)any passes in the second half.Peter Thompson wrote:To add....for me OC's got to get off the fence and grow some balls and decide how he wants us to play, because we actually have decent players Holden, M Davies, Rodrigo who are very comfortable on the ball and can play an effective passing game, but others K Davies, Elmander, Muamba, Taylor (he is exceptionally fecking shite) etc....can't play in a footballing side because they are limited players, their 1st touches & movement are poor, mis controlling the ball etc on a regular basis which stops any fluent passing game....

Don't get the Rodrigo love either, flatters to decieve. I thought Petrov was hard done too.

If it's similar prices it sounds tempting. Bit of a rush from work like, but I've never seen Bolton there.
As for the game, Taylor didn't play particularly well but was still a million miles better than Petrov who is, and I think this is the technical term, 'fecking shite'. A poor game we probably just edged but the only way either team looked like scoring was a mistake from t'other lot. Wheater's comedy handball was probably the highlight of the game, along with his actual performance, he looked solid, fit in well. Front two both look knackered, and Elmo has gone back to being a big girl. Star man yet a-fecking-gain was Robinson.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
I'm off to the theatre in five ,ins - which has to be better entertainment than the dull, lifeless, non-event I sat through, with increasing impatience, this afternoon.
No real commitment. no urgency. no ideas.
Now is the time for Coyle to earn hs money - this squad needs freshenig - two more days for that - and motivating - your job, Owen.
Paul Robinson the only player who put in a full shift.
agree with Tom about Rodrigo, twists and turns nicely before losing it. Stuart holden must start if fit against Wolves.

Re: FA Cup 4th Round
there was an awful lot of talk after each of the last two games from various players - Davo, Holden among them as I remember - demanding a response - and also from Coyle...

It was indeed, since we got to 30 points we look like a side who have thought job done, and if we are not careful will get dragged back into the dogfight, next match against the fake Wanderers is massive.CAPSLOCK wrote:Twas dog dirt
A decent cup run would have been nice but I can see another shite performance against the pie eating scum and us going out.
The voices in my head may not be real...but they have some great ideas!
