Indeed. In fact, I received a text this morning speculating that if he were to move to Liverpool he'd have to live with Kevin Nolan's mum...

Best thing for his defence surely? Big money move to Anfield of all places. They'll never convict. It was probably self defence. Like when he glassed that bloke by accident.

They'll get £40million-ish for Torres. Blowing almost all on Carroll is absurd. He's not even that good.

Fat Mike's going to have one hell of a hangover tomorrow.

Strikers are expensive but he's getting the price of a proven PL player with a 3 or 4 years goalscoring at the top level for a work in progress player.

If the Torres deal doesn't come off Liverpool have just spent a lot of cash on 2 players Net spend that is.

4.29pm: Blimey. sky are now saying that Liverpool will pay "more than £35m for Carroll". That is the rumour from "reliable sources". A deal has apparently now been struck.

4.41pm: OK: some new news on Carroll. Sky are reporting that the second, improved, bid for Carroll has been rejected. The man from the cut-price sports shop: he says no. What does this mean? Are they holding out for more? Is the Torres move now stymied? It's implausibly tangled.

WTF? It's £35million. Possibly more. For Andy Carroll. Andy Fcukin Carroll.

How could anyone turn that down?
