Me too.. Although, it tried to do thet "Real London" stuff, which consisted of petrol bombing the police, massive shoot-outs, murdered policemen and drive by random shootings.. None of which (to my knowledge) happen on a regular basis.Raven wrote:Harry Brown and really enjoyed it.
Entertaining though and has a touch of the Gran Torino's about it

this sounds interesting...
Louis Theroux: The Ultra Zionists
Thursday 03 February
9:00pm - 10:00pm
BBC2
Louis Theroux visiting the West Bank almost sounds like a joke. But shelve any scepticism as this works superbly. Meeting extremist Jewish settlers in areas that are Israeli-occupied but (according to international law) Palestinian by rights, he reveals the bizarre details of life in towns where day-to-day scuffles, stone throwing and name-calling between Arabs and Jews are such a fact of life, they're almost ritualised into a sinister game. If that sounds like trivialising the issue, he really doesn't: Theroux's observational style reveals more about the intractable human reality than a dozen po-faced news reports.

Lovefilm came through with American History X - which looks like it might be a mistaken choice for my taste... And Morgan: a Suitable Case for Treatment, just released on dvd and been on my list for months before... They got it to me within a few days of release... Good stuff, now to see how badly it's dated...

Quality film. Brutal and a touch depressing. Should be right up your street.

agree with superjohn. Tis a superb film, if rather tough going.

American History X is good.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
So, I watched Morgan: a Suitable Case for Treatment...
And it had me perpetually grinning and occasionally laughing out loud...
And caused a dispute in the living room on whether Vanessa Redgrave was any good in it or not... I said no, wife said yes...
For those not itk on this 1962 (?) flick... Morgan is an artist from working class background who is being divorced by wife (from rolls-driving wealthy family) who can't take any more of his artistic madness, despite really loving him... It plays with political ideas, changing notions of sexual morality, and social class... And is infected throughout with an anarchic comedy stemming from the fact that Morgan, in his madness, sees the human world as a jungle, literally, with the characters transmogrifying into - mostly - gorillas, but also, crocodiles, hippos, peacocks and more...
May well have provided the source inspiration for the first Reggie Perrin.
I loved it... but maybe you had to be alive at the time...

General Mannerheim wrote:Just watched Black Swan. by far the best film ive seen in ages! Loved the darkness to it, the music, the subleties in the transformation, genius film.
Portman must have that Oscar nailed, Vinny Cassel is quality as always, and Mila Kunis is quite possibly the fittest girl on the planet!
I'm watching it again...
I think I may well have pulled off the world's biggest masterstroke. Missus somehow decided this is the sort of thing I wouldn't like, so begged me to go watch it with her, for v-day. I get to watch Vinnie Cassell AND Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis lesbonym it up, and I get credit for it!

Watched the first Boardwalk Empire last night. Really enjoyed it, though I haven't got a clue what's going on.
Second one tonight in time for the third one tomorrow.

Aranofsky is directing the next Wolverine film, which as a comic-book nerd is a pant-wettingly amazing prospect.

First episode was superb, second ep wasn't as good, but still highly enjoyable. Shaping up to being a fantastic series! I might even stay in on a Saturday night, to watch the third one and that's unprecedented!CrazyHorse wrote:Watched the first Boardwalk Empire last night.
