Re: English Wanderers
I think it's the news of the world that runs a table each week that gives a club by club percentage of English players. We were top this week just gone. Arsenal were bottom. I'd link to it but the fookers make you pay for the site these days.

You pay for The News of the World?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

The paper aye, not the website. Unfortunately I think a lot of the newspaper sites will do the same in time.
Re: English Wanderers
Yep. Guardian have sworn not to, which clearly cannot last. Unless it becomes utterly rammed with adverts for Fair Trade couscous and Islington wine bars, anyway.

I don't know about the rest of you but I miss the multi-cultural team that we had under Big Sam. Plenty of variety from different nationalities, they all had their very own backstory even Nicky Hunt (although his is decidedly less interesting). Now we've just got an English team with a few foreigners in it. Perosnally I prefer the randomness.

Re: English Wanderers
Multi-cultural or English, what matter as long as they play well for Bolton? We've had a few big name foreigners who haven't worked here and a few non-foreigners too. Right now we have an improving side here so on with it.

Hmm. A subject close to my art. Murdoch's paywall experiments are failing badly because other providers give you comparable fare for free: why pay for the Times when you can read the Telegraph for free? If you need a credit card for Page3.co.uk why not go the full hog and splash out on proper jazz? Folk will only shell out if you have truly important unique content, a la Wall Street Journal. Of course that leaves a big question as to how content providers make any money as the shift online continues. When I have the answer, I might let you know, but equally I might keep it close.superjohnmcginlay wrote:The paper aye, not the website. Anyway, nice to see us more mainly "English", partly for the kudos when players represent our country, partly for the increased resale value.

Isn't advertising revenue the supposed panacea, or have I misjudged/misread?

Good point, does anybody use the sucription services for said papers? If so, do they still have adverts, or are they ad free?Lord Kangana wrote:Isn't advertising revenue the supposed panacea, or have I misjudged/misread?

You can still get on that at the moment. So I'm told anyway.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Lord Kangana wrote:You pay for The News of the World?Hmm. A subject close to my art. they still have some ads on. like sky tv , it all subsidizes it. carnt imagine how dear it would be with no adverts at all.boltonboris wrote: Good point, does anybody use the sucription services for said papers? If so, do they still have adverts, or are they ad free?
the freetards might be sulkin' , but i dont think uncle rupert is that bothered , his readership might be down but from some story i read the money coming in is about the same / slightly up.
sounds all very sky tv / apple subscription model based.
if it works folk'll copy , if it dont it'll go back.
