For some reason Newcastle are rapidly becoming a side I do not like, at all. On paper they are crap, but their league position tells a different story. They seem to be able to pull big wins out of the hat but they are very inconsistent. We are riding high at the moment and I fancy our strike force will be too much for them on the day. We will murder them in midfield - it's a long way round Nolan but M Davies and Holden will make that trip several times on Saturday. I'd play Elmander in there if possible because they'll target him again and again and he thrived on it last time.

I'd be tempted to go 5 in midfield with M Davies and Holden with Fabrice as the anchor to patrol and limit the influence of Barton or that fat number 4. Or that Tiote.

Leave that Gutierrez unmarked, cos he's shit.

A 5 man midfield would imply not starting SKD or Sturridge - can't see that happening. We might end that way but knowing Coyle there'll be three on at the end not one.

Edit: Gutierrez gets a bad rap, often from the home fans, but he's played quite well this year. Enrique has been playing well too.

I haven't had chance to see much of the Wigan or Fulham comments or highlights but strikes me that aside from our defensive injury woes we're beginning to benefit from good competition from places - whereas scroll back to Dec the starting XI had pretty much picked itself with nobody behind it.

Mixed fortunes at SJP down the years, but they've had mixed fortunes at home this season, and our record v Pards is decent enough. Score first, we'll win.

I think it'd be very unfair to drop Klas after the last two games, but it would also be unfair to drop sturridge as he's only missed out by default. What would be fair would be to drop Davies but that's never gonna happen (nor should it at Newcastle) tbh I'd be happy with either upfront with SKD. Nice headache for Owen to have.
