There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Well he's enjoying an extended honeymoon period right now which is more than making up for it.

But there are already 2 threads for this bellend, perhaps it should be moved?

Good call is that, Chief. The other one's turned into a debate as to who can help in dumping Hoboh off in Owlerton anyway.

In tonight's BEN, Gordon Sharrock writes a perfectly concise piece on how Megson is now just basically making an embittered cock of himself, a piece in which he rightly asks what exactly did Megson do to try to engage with those that he's now claiming 'kicked him from pillar to post'?

Next to the article there've run that picture of Batman in the crowd at WBA with that guy holding the 'Megson Out' sign behind him - only they've done it so that it looks as though Batty is glaring at the ginger prick. Excellent stuff! :D

Certainly LK, here it is:
GARY Megson continues to blame everyone but himself for his Reebok nightmare.

I don’t understand why he can’t just get on with the job of managing Sheffield Wednesday instead of raking over 14-month-old coals.

He was at it again at the weekend, complaining he was “battered from pillar to post” by Wanderers fans who never gave him a chance.

I have always had a certain sympathy for Megson, who was an unpopular and uninspiring choice and faced a tough challenge with Wanderers having taken just five points from their first 10 games of that 2007-08 season.

He is right in claiming he deserved a measure fo credit for keeping the club in the Premier League two years running, although his methods were dull and, at times, downright antagonistic.

He knew from the start that he faced a battle to win over the more critical supporters and was intelligent enough to accept that, in some circumstances, it is impossible to convert the hostile mind. But the big problem I found with him was that he was not prepared to try.

At no point during his 26-month reign did I ever see Megson make any attempt to engage with the fans. Quite the opposite. He gave the distinct impression that he didn’t care what the supporters thought, either about him or his team and when he made it clear there was no chance of the rift being healed when he described them as “pathetic” and questioning their intelligence after coming under fire at Blackburn in January 2009.

He certainly didn’t try to establish a relationship, turning down every invitation to address supporters’ groups. Interestingly. he has already attended a fans forum at Hillsborough - obviously determined not to make the same mistake again.

Megson reckons there was “no honeymoon period whatsoever” at Bolton but my memory of those early days was that he was his own worst enemy.

Within two months of his arrival he had led Wanderers to fantastic results against three former European champions - a draw at Bayern Munich, an historic Premier League victory over Manchester United at the Reebok and a win at Red Star Belgrade.

Did he show he shared in the joy of the supporters? Did he ‘eck.

When he should have been banging the drum he simply shrugged his shoulders, showed hardly any emotion and just carried on regardless.

It takes two to make a memorable honeymoon and a successful marriage. And in this case there were faults on both sides.

Very nice but I wanted one with the Megson Out sign - probably already on TW somewhere.

His mug (Megson) on local news again today

They showed highlights of all the other games in Yorkshire last night, but for Wednesdays there were no highlights so we were treated to his post match analysis!

He wasn't battered from pillar to post. 90% of fans were open minded and prepared to give him a chance. Unfortunately he did everything in his power to make sure we turned against him.

I think he's actually pissed me off more with this gobby bullshit since he went to Wednesday than he ever did when he was here as a manager. It really is time for the silly prick to move on.

legendary column from super john in BEN haha

http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... Mr_Megson/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
DEAR Mr Megson,

I am writing to ask, as a Bolton Wanderers fan and former player that you stop whining on about your time at the Reebok Stadium and concentrate on the club you are currently managing.

I don’t know what Sheffield Wednesday supporters think about you harking back to Bolton every time you open your mouth, but on this side of the Pennines, it sounds very much like sour grapes.

This club will be forever grateful to you for righting the ship when you first arrived. It was a difficult job under difficult circumstances. But it’s now in the past.

You left us in no better shape than you found us, with an astronomical wage bill that is still being dealt with as I write.

You seem to take great delight in telling us that you have travelled the world over the past 12 months while Bolton Wanderers pay your wages.

But I’d suggest that if you keep carrying on in this way, you had better keep your gardening gloves handy because you’ll need them again quite soon.

You seem to worry a lot about our club but I’d like to assure you that we are fine. As I write, we are eighth in the Premier League and one game away from playing in the FA Cup semi finals at Wembley.

We have a manager who is respected by the fans and who reciprocates that respect at every opportunity he is given.

If we are lucky enough to qualify for Europe, and if Owen Coyle sees fit to play a weakened team, then he will credit the players for those performances and not claim some tactical masterstroke.

I am pleased you have found another job, and equally pleased you feel it is at a bigger club. I hope to see you again in the Premier League soon.

But I stress that Bolton Wanderers have moved on, and so should you.

Yours sincerely, John McGinlay

I think that's an optimistic percentage, hoss. I'd say maybe, 60, 70%.

BUT I also remember a definite upward swing in mood around the time we beat united, drew at the Allianz etc. I also seem to remember a post by SOTWA saying that Megson could get us into Europe!

His ultimate failing was selfishness. It was, essentially, all about him. He didn't recognise the fans while at the club, nor the town even. Acting the centrepiece when things are right is fine, but when they go down the swanny and questions are asked that aren't answered, it's a recipe for disaster...especially so if you go on to blame those you had ignored previously.

You only need to look at the recent comments he's made to realise how self-centred he is. Me me me me me me...

And I agree entirely with your comments in the second paragraph, hoss.

nah, he was too fearful of taking any credit even when we were doing well for fear of some charlies going "he's taking credit for allardyce's work? the ginger bastard!". i remember his post match video of munich being that way.

doing that tho (not taking credit when they won, but seemingly not taking blame when they lost) made it seem he werent bothered.

he mustve bin else he wouldnt be goin' on about it now. you'd think theyd stop askin' tho.

he took enough stick to give some back.

he gotta get his new team some points too.
