Seem to have a bit of a fixation about KD there, fella. Don't tell me, you're not really Newboy, are you?newboy wrote:the game was there for the taking coyle settled for the pointTKIZ! wrote:I think you need to get a slight grip here, yes we could have taken advantage of Newcastle but to get a point at SJP is a great result and still keeps us in the hunt. I think some fans are in danger of becoming the things we dislike the most: Newcastle and Spuds fans in the opinion we should be getting 3 points out of every gamenewboy wrote:paint it any way you want it's a game that was there for the taking second half. kd and muamba both should have gone off mavis and chungy on and we should have stretched the game more newcastle squeezed it .
kd should have been substituted captain or not the fans know it why doesn't he?

Good game today and what I would have hoped for. Cruising now and should maintain or improve our postion ere term end. You never know, we may even be in Europe again.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
Ive not read the earlier pages but im guessing its mainly about Elmander? well for me he can play there, i thought he did ok for about 60 minutes, but after that it was painfully obvious he needed replacing, at least if we were to score another goal. a talent like CYL on the bench for 90mins is travesty. Sturridge was never MOTM, im just glad he keeps scoring because he does little else, and is the greediest player i can remember in a white shirt. im not knocking him tho, it was a superb finish anmd if he keeps banging em in he can do what the frig he wants. who said Alonso has pace? he frickin dosent! he was ok tho, but i cant wait for robbo to take his place back, and to get a right footer back in at RB.
Holden was MOTM.

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
It's a good away point that many of us would have taken beforehand. Seem to recall quite a few 1-1s this season away from home where we felt we may have taken more from the game.
My hope with resting Lee now, bearing in mind it's not damaging us too much, is that he'll be fresh for the run in. The likes of Rodrigo and Klasnic must be slightly frustrated not to see a bit more time on the pitch for games like this. It sounds like again there was a couple of players not quite at the races and yet there are options to replace if folk are underperforming. I think would be worth using them from time to time and not just subbing the usual suspects regardless of their performances.
Commentators on the radio were making the point that even with an extra man on the pitch we had all 11 back for free kicks and corners and that perhaps would be worth having at least one up in such situations. Bit Megson-esque mentality perhaps?
Still, all be forgiven should we beat Villa at home methinks

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
2 points dropped on second half's showing.
But hey, what an improvement on recent history, where being pissed off with a point away at a top ten team would have been laughable.
Goal assist aside, Elmander was f*cking terrible for the majority of the game today. Lets hope Lee wakes up from his coma soon.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
Take a look at the match of the day highlights. What a joke. Despite having 17 shots compared to their 10 they only showed our goal and showed about 7 of theirs. It made it look like we snatched a point as opposed to how well we actually did against them in which we should've took all 3. Wouldn't have thought they would've been biased towards Newcastle, but evidently their editor must be.
Re: Whites vs Newcastle
Aye alright Kev. I know it wasn't as bad as he did on Anichebe but it was horrific because he could see Elmander clearly in his line of sight. The c*nt knew what he was doing imo - It's been 180 minutes of trying to hurt Elmander this season. 3 red card offences (2 given) and a total of 9 games in bans earned on him."Ryan is an honest lad and it was an honest tackle," Nolan told the club's official website.
"The boy (Elmander) has gone down like he's been shot which is not nice, because two minutes later he's up and running around like a madman.
"That's what we don't like about it, but it's two-footed and we've got no complaints.
"We know what Ryan is like though - he will never hurt, or try to hurt, a fellow professional ever."

Down like he's been shot? Yes, two footed in the ankle. Similar. Nolan's a fool.

No he's not - he's doing a captain's job... Yesterday's behind him, looking to the next games...HMX wrote:Down like he's been shot? Yes, two footed in the ankle. Similar. Nolan's a fool.
It happens, in this case, to involve lying...

Players clearly hold something against Johan - he's been targeted a few times.

Certainly the Toon do after what he did to them at the Reebok.HMX wrote:Players clearly hold something against Johan - he's been targeted a few times.

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
happy with a point and delighted to have moved back up to 7th. However, by all accounts if we would of hit our straps we could of been on for a victory.
The bench looked really strong yesterday so there are now real alternatives for anyone who isnt on form. Lookin forward to villa, where 3 points would be very useful to keep up the momentum.

Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
As I've mentioned before, the rumour is that Nolan and Elmander didn't exactly see eye-to-eye (or should that be wy-aye?). Mind its only a rumour.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Certainly the Toon do after what he did to them at the Reebok.HMX wrote:Players clearly hold something against Johan - he's been targeted a few times.

Re: Whites vs Newcastle
Who gives a flying fanny fart if he "intends to hurt people"?
It was a red card offence. It's great that he didn't mean to hurt Elmander, but it's still a bad tackle that is punishable with e a red card by the rules of the game!
