Welcome to our first member survey at The Wanderer.

TW is one of the most popular and busiest BWFC fan sites, and since our recent redesign we are keen to know what is working well, not so well, what you use or read most on the site, or what we don’t do at the moment that you’d like us to do.

Please take a few minutes to answer the questions below. You can either leave your answers on this thread or, if you’d prefer them to be kept confidential, PM them to me, Tango or Ratbert.

We will consider all views but request that you keep them truthful and honest. Wind-ups and arguments will not be tolerated, and may result in a ‘day off’ from the site if we see fit.

Site Moderation
• Do you agree with TW’s moderation policy? No - I don't think a forum necessarily needs them
• What can be done to improve the forums and site moderation? Rotate the mods - freshen things up - stops those with what little power it brings have it go to their heads - this works well on other sites

• Would you consider writing for the front page? Yep, I've done a bit before, but should contribute more

• How often do you contribute to the forums? Probably every other day, I might make it to 1000 posts one day

• What do you like most about the forums? I like the mix of fans of all ages who've seen the best and worst of times, and also the off topic stuff about anything from food to tv to benefit cheats is great to read and get involved with

• What do you least like about the forums? Sometimes feels a bit cliquey but that's what happens on long-standing forums with a lot of history. I try not to get involved with disagreements on forums so if I don't like it I just read something else!

• What could encourage you to contribute more often? Maybe getting that story I'm working on finally finished to put on front page! But otherwise I think I contribute enough

• If a regular poster, which forums do you contribute to most? Off-topic stuff probably

• Do you think the forum categories are correct? If not, what should they be? I think they're fine. Maybe an archive section of popular old threads from the past eg. the UEFA Cup match threads for a bit of nostalgia could be added - but they're easy enough to find anyway

• Do you read the front page articles? Always try and read the match previews and reviews where poss.
• If yes, how often? Weekly
• If no, why not? If I'm looking on my phone then I don't usually because it takes too long to load and I head straight for the juicy goss on the forums

• Would you consider writing for the front page? Yes, definitely one day

• How often do you contribute to the forums? read them everyday, starting to post more regular now
• What do you like most about the forums? educated and intelligent football debate. (actually I'm being serious.... much better standard than any other BWFC forum)
• What do you least like about the forums? the space for signatures and avators is too small
• What could encourage you to contribute more often? More hours in the day. But sadly I don't think you can do anything about that.

• Do you agree with TW’s moderation policy? Yes, its spot on. Pretty liberal but if anything looks like its going downhill then its nipped in the bud.

I think everything about the site is spot on.

The only thing I would look to improve would be having more fanzine stuff, other than just match reports.

I have no ideas as to how you could get this to happen, mind.

• How often do you contribute to the forums? Contribute? A few times a day, on average...
• What do you like most about the forums? The fact that it ticks over without too much in the way of pessimism or arguments, and the fact that it very rarely goes quiet - something that cannot be said for other forums I've frequented.
• What do you least like about the forums? I can't say that there's anything I dislike.
• What could encourage you to contribute more often? Not a lot. I think I contribute as much as I'm going to anyway.
• If a regular poster, which forums do you contribute to most? The Trotters or Other Footy, mostly.
• Do you think the forum categories are correct? If not, what should they be? They're correct.

• If yes, how often? Once a month, maybe
• If no, why not? Time - workwise I don't get as much chance to browse and read. Must admit think the articles used to be a bit more regular and varied
• What can be done to improve the front page? Think some consistency as to the features, timings etc. An image one day, article the next, preview on x time
• Would you consider writing for the front page? Yes

• What do you like most about the forums? Match and team debate, but as a forum I like that you can chinwag on the match threads then there's some good fun being had on the general

• Do you think the forum categories are correct? If not, what should they be? yeah but not sure the fantasy team one is as relevant now we don't run our prediction leagues etc

• What can be done to improve the front page? To my eyes it's pretty good. Trying to look at it from the point of view of a first time visitor I would perhaps suggest the welcome message be in black as opposed to the grey I see (it sort of looks like the fine print of a hire-purchase agreement).
• Would you consider writing for the front page? Yes . . . but being so divorced from the town it's a bit hard.

• Do you read the front page articles? Yes If yes, how often? When they are posted, they give a good insight into the mind of a wanderer, add a little atmosphere of the game for me, and others, who for all kinds of reasons, cannot get to matches as often as we'd like.

• Would you consider writing for the front page? Yes; but sadly my (non) attendance at games presently prevents it. Hopefully this will improve next season and allow me to do a match report. I suppose a preview isn't out of the question though.Forums

• How often do you contribute to the forums? Quite a bit, given limited time available
• What do you like most about the forums? Variety of topics. Some serious, others hilarious. I think there are some topics with very well informed and educated poster's contributing to the threads, more so than other sites.
• What do you least like about the forums? Self opinionated poster's without a sense of humour. ( I was guilty of it once, sorry General M!)

• What can be done to improve the forums and site moderation? Not concerned about moderation as it stands. For those who think 'power' is the reason we have mods, let them have a try at it. I think the mods do a good job of weeding out the nutters and keep the site on an even keel. If there were no moderators we would spend half the day sifting through all kinds of sh*t, in an attempt to find some interesting comment.
