Kevin Davies' charity do on Saturday night
I went to Davies' charity night at the Reebok on Saturday and thought I'd type up a quick report if people are interested.
Was a great do, Escala girls from Britain's Got Talent opened it up and they definitely have talent (and not bad at the violin either etc.)
Live auctions went well enough, strangest buy of the night was maybe David Wheater buying two tickets to Ant & Dec's Push the Button for £500! Davies himself bought the Mini for £13.5k. There were some good things in the silent auction too but all a bit pricey for me! Total money raised will end up somewhere around 117k they mentioned, which is great stuff - interested to see how they go about spending it now.
Peter Kay stepped in last minute for Paddy McGuinness and did some stand up, similar vein of comedy to the past if that's to be his new stuff, talking about Sky+, song lyrics and so on.
McFly did an acoustic set which was good actually, can't say many folk in the room were their target market of young girls, but it was good and they chucked in a few covers.
Stuart Holden socialises like he plays football, just charging around the room all night.
Oh and they had Carrs pasties and mushy peas upstairs afterwards, which I was particularly chuffed about
Anyway it's recommended if they do something similar next year.

Cheers for the report Athers. Escala are good, but a direct copy of Bond, ( who I like very much, have three of their albums) even to playing their music. Glad you had a good night.Athers wrote:I went to Davies' charity night at the Reebok on Saturday and thought I'd type up a quick report if people are interested.

Sounds like a good night!
£117,000 is an amazing amount of money raised for a great cause. Well done to Super Kev and everyone at KiDs for Bolton.

Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

I was so tempted to go, kind of gutted that I didn't do to be honest.
Definitely going to the next one, sounded like a really good night!

Nope but there were some official photos/videos being taken so I guess they'll appear on the website at some point.keveh wrote:I was so tempted to go, kind of gutted that I didn't do to be honest.

My highlight was just watching Wheater. He was SLAUGHTERED.
When Coyle made that speech and mentioned Klasnic, our new boy shouted 'RAPIST'
Good night though

What was up with Paddy?
Re: Kevin Davies' charity do on Saturday night
To anybody who went, a question
What was your motivation
If it had been a tenner I'd not have gone, so I wasn't going to throw a ton at it
My kids would've gone to see the players but I grew out of that when I left my teenage years behind

Having a good night and contributing to a worthwhile cause, for me.

You're not having that his friends being there didn't have any impact on him going? Seriously?CAPSLOCK wrote:Nah, not having thatLofthouse Lower wrote:Well obviously, yes, but additionally the fact that I was accompanied by some mates
I wanted to go because I thought it sounded like a good night, but my mates didn't fancy it so I didn't bother. Things like that are always better when you're with mates.
I also wouldn't deny that seeing the players would definitely be a draw as well.
