Jussi penalty saves
Can anyone settle this one for me, only its been bugging me for a couple of days, ever since the "Jussi saves loads of penalties" thing started to do the rounds after saturday.
So.
How many has he actually saved for the Wanderers (all compo's, like)?

There's actually a freeview vid on the BWFC website right now showing what (I think) are all of Jussi's Premier League penalty saves...

Re: Jussi penalty saves
I don't know. I was more concerned by the way that he just dropped to his knees on both of their goals. Had he stood up he'd have saved the second one at head height, the scruffy c*nt.

To do that he'd have also required the foresight to predict that Albrighton was going to mishit it with his shin.Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't know. I think I read somewhere that he's joint with David James for most penalty saves over the last 10 years or so.

Come on Tom, play the game, Jussi is rubbish for not predicting a 1 in a million pure fluke finish from Albrighton.Tombwfc wrote:To do that he'd have also required the foresight to predict that Albrighton was going to mishit it with his shin.Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't know. We should have that Al Habsi back, really solid, no mistakes......ooooh.
Re: Jussi penalty saves
In fairness he was definitely at fault for the second. He knelt down into a position that made it no more likely he'd save a low one than if he used his feet. My dad tried blaming him for the first one though, which is balls. Some folk seem to have decided he is past it and so every goal must be his fault. Penalty save more than made up for it!

I talked at some length with Felgate last summer
He was doing coaching sessions and I pointed out that his instruction to budding keepers was completely different to how Jussi 'sets up'
He agreed and said Jussi went against the manuals 'but it fcuking well works for him though'
He pointed out how rarely Jussi is beaten low down...can't have it all ways
As an aside, Jussis starting position is generally like that of a slip fielder...makes sense that a goalkeeper would adopt a similar stance

Re: Jussi penalty saves
He sat on the floor as a very soft shot bounced over him. It doesn't matter how many others he saves, and I agree it is lots, he should still have stopped it.

Regardless of how good Jussi is or isn't...
...you quoted Dave Felgate? FFS man, no-one will ever listen to you again. Ever.

I'm still scarred from a very, very long night at The Dell
But he knows more about goalkeeping than anybody on here

Utter prickishness. Have another look - Jaaskalainen has dropped onto his knee before it's even reached the Villa player. Prickishness!BWFC_Insane wrote:Come on Tom, play the game, Jussi is rubbish for not predicting a 1 in a million pure fluke finish from Albrighton.Tombwfc wrote:To do that he'd have also required the foresight to predict that Albrighton was going to mishit it with his shin.Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't know. Al Habsi's mistake last weekend made Wigan lose. Jussi is a good goalkeeper and the best we've got.

^^^ He's right... Al Habsi has had a good season, but done nothing to prove he deserves to be before Jussi... (Tho certainly not much behind either...).

Which is his style as Caps says, it works for him. Most times Albrightons shot would not have bounced over and in like that. But it did. Jussi has to play the percentages if he stays up for as long as possible its highly probable that low shots would squeeze in underneath him.Bruce Rioja wrote:Utter prickishness. It feels like more to be honest.
Didn't he save one of the mandatory 15 Blackburn got against us in 2007-08 (at home)?
