We used to have a poster on here a while back, went by the name of Batman. I'm sure you remember the guy; y'know, what with you being a long time site lurker prior to starting to post and all.

Anyway, he always maintained that anyone who has paid their money to see a game is well within their rights to boo if they don't like the performance. Wise words don't you think?

Considering the type of season we have had thus far I don't think anyone is justified to boo. Coyle made the right decision last night to take Lee off. Alright maybe he should have made the subs a tad earlier than he did but ho hum.

Just finished watching the highlights again on Football First and the atmosphere in the Bok is woeful. When did us Trotters fans lose all sense of getting behind our team?

As far as I can see, from last season we won 8 of 29 when he started (28%) and only 2 from 9 when he didn't start (22%). Both of these stats are below our Premier League average of 30%. In our bad seasons - the two we got relegated and two where we just stayed up, we were between 21% and 24%. In our good years when we were in the top half, we were between 37% and 42%.

This year, we've won all our 8 when he's started and none when he's not. If you look at the games where he hasn't started this season, some of the results you might expect whether he was playing or not.

Sunderland (away) - L 0-1 Prem record W2 out of 7 (28%)
Liverpool (away) - L 1-2 - Prem record W0 out of 12 (0%)
Wigan (home) - D 1-1 - Prem record W2 out of 6 (33%)
Chelsea (away) - L 0-1 - Prem record W1 out of 12 (8%)
Stoke (away) - L 0-2 - Prem record W1 out of 3 (33%)
Chelsea (home) - L 0-4 - Prem record W2 out of 12 (17%)

I don't doubt our team is better with him in it. But this stat shows some odd things. I looked at it for Kevin Nolan and Kevin Davies once over.

Our win rate with Nolan in the team was 35.8%. Without him in the team, our win rate dropped to 23.6%.

Conversely for Davo, our win rate with him in the team is 34% and without him, 34.8%.

In the period when both Nolan and Davo were at the club (2003/4 season until 2008/9 season), it's a little more marked in variation.

With Nolan - win rate 38.8%, without Nolan - win rate 22.2% - 16.6% less likely to win without him playing.

With Davo - win rate 35.4%, without Davo - win rate 36.4% - 1% more likely to win without him playing.

CYL's, impact in his first season wasn't as marked as this season, when he wasn't in the team (6%). This season it's been much bigger, but he's missed plenty of games where historically we've had much less than a 1 in 3 chance of winning.

Either way, I'm generally happier when he's playing than when he's not.

Ermm as much as the booing is annoying and it would be funny, I think we'd look a right bunch of tits. So I'd say no to that idea.

I think our disappointing performances actually started when he went to the Asian cup. And now that he's back people had strong expectations. I understand the fans who would have liked to see how things would have turned out against Manchester City or Chelsea with him in the team. But he needs some time to get back on the saddle and focus on the rest of the season. Him and Sturridge in the same team are gonna be fun to watch! Can't wait.

OC has had him benched for weeks, really want to see him stand up on the pitch.

OC said he had to be careful with Lee. Sturridge didn't play as much before he arrived hence he's in top condition without risking injuries too much, his EPL season started with us. Lee is still very valuable to him and I believe OC knows what he's doing with LCY. He knows best as his use of him proved it today against Birmingham. That bloody Asian cup was draining.

I don't mind Lee being an impact sub at the moment, he definitely needs his rest. A couple more games with him on the bench and then let him help us finish the season off in style.

FA Cup hero Chung-Yong Lee should expect an invitation to dinner before Bolton’s semi-final against Stoke next month. The Wanderers midfielder accompanied team-mates Johan Elmander and Stuart Holden to a Korean restaurant last week.

And both Lee and Elmander were on target in the 3-2 quarter-final victory over Birmingham at St Andrews.

“It’s a secret restaurant,” said Swedish striker Elmander. “Chungy showed us some food from his home country. It was very nice and we had a good chat. We should do it again.

“I’m especially glad for Chungy because he’s been sitting on the bench for a couple of games now.

“For him to come on and score was special. He deserved it. But it means a lot to us as a team because we worked hard and it will be fantastic to go to Wembley.

“I have never played there before, so I am really looking forward to it.

“It would be great to lift a trophy but there is a long way to go before we do that.”

It was only Lee’s third goal of the season but his clearance from under his own bar just after coming on was equally as important.

There were jubilant scenes in front of the Wanderers’ fans when the former FC Seoul star headed past Ben Foster.

Indeed, every time Lee has scored Bolton have gone on to win the game.

Lee, popular with supporters and team-mates alike, said of his priceless goal: “I felt I was flying. I lost my mind.

“It was a great goal for Bolton and the celebrations just came out.

“Kevin Davies always wins headers so when the ball was crossed I knew he was going to head the ball to where I was moving to.

“I just couldn’t miss. I know how important the FA Cup is because I used to watch games when I was in Korea.

“I’m really happy that I’m part of a squad that has done a great job so far.”

Lee has been used sparingly in recent weeks after playing virtually non-stop for club and country in the last three years.

Manager Owen Coyle has spoken glowingly of a player snapped up by Gary Megson in 2009 for a bargain £2.2million.

And he’s keen to avoid 22-year-old Lee suffering burn-out. However, the player himself insisted: “I’m always ready for the match - even if it’s for one or 10 minutes.

“If I get on the pitch I will spend all my energy and do my very best.”
