I'll stick with it, like, but four or five listens in and a lot of it feels like lots of running for a few short slides.Lofthouse Lower wrote:It's like any other Elbow album, at first I think it's a bit whiny and maudlin, then it grows on me, and then I love it

Some years ago the Sunday Times gave away a Bjork CD. The week after two contributions stood out in Letters to the Editor.thebish wrote:Philistine!Bruce Rioja wrote:Sorted that out for you.thebish wrote:Bjork - All Neon Like (from Homogenic)

One banged on about how she was a musical pioneer exploring unchartered territory in terms of atmospherics and so on. The other one simply said;
Sir, for sale - Bjork CD. Played once.
A real Marmite artist.
I've actually seen her play live twice............. and just can't!

You and I both, but I just can't get along with Bjork's stuff. Perhaps it's because I thought that the Sugarcubes were absolutely shite.thebish wrote: I've kinda always liked kooky stuff

Shostakovitch string quartet no 8. Sombre. Achingly beautiful.
Mendelssohn octet. Light and joyous.
Two favourites. Partner away, and she isn't keen on either... So, an hour well spent...
(That she doesn't get Shostakovitch is a real puzzle to me - why?)

It may be the moisturising cream she uses. Or you could try changing your underwear twice a day!

One of the most underrated singer/songwriters there is. Seen him live a couple of times, magnificent.
Re: What are you playing tonight?
Gaslight Anthem Sink or Swim and American Slang , Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager and assorted Frank Turner all mixed up onto a Frankie's Gas Cape playlist. Weeeeeekend is here.

An album by a guy i know on another forum. It's called 'Motivation'. Obviously sceptical at first, but f*ck me it's good. Especially when you consider he recorded this in his bedroom.
