Of course not. We'd only do any deal on the basis it makes football/business sense for ourselves.CrazyHorse wrote:You've obviously just awoken from a coma and missed the last 12 months. Glad to hear you're feeling much better now.BWFC_Insane wrote:Really? And what would those be? From what I heard he parted on good terms with his "bosses" just not other areas of the club. And lets be honest assuming Coyle wants to get some of JOB off the wage bill, how many other clubs would be interested?CrazyHorse wrote:I can think of several reason why they should. But it'll be as a favour to JoeyO rather than as a favour to tithead.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'd imagine that the Bolton board don't bear any grudges towards him. I've no idea if any other clubs are interested, but I'll say it again. We'll be loaning him out as a favour to the JOB, not as a favour to Megson.
Put it this way. D'you think Chelsea are loaning us Sturridge as a favour to Coyle or for the lad?
I think that was my point really, if it makes sense for the club there is no reason we shouldn't deal with a Megson managed club.

You'd have to question Gartside's sanity if he doesn't now realise that The Flame Haired Assassin is in fact a complete bellend.

Perhaps they're mates? Who knows. Plenty of folks in football are "complete bellends" we're gonna have to deal with some of them.Lord Kangana wrote:You'd have to question Gartside's sanity if he doesn't now realise that The Flame Haired Assassin is in fact a complete bellend.

And thankfully we dealt with him in the most appropriate way.
I wonder what Gartside had to say in private about Megson's restraint of trade accusation?

who cares, he's probably been back to the 'bok loadsa times to do tv and the like, he mightve needed to tek bodyguards to keep the tards away, but thats summert else. i'd guess philly g hates him a lot less than he hated allardyce after he did one if he's let him work there within this "12months gardening leave".Lord Kangana wrote:And thankfully we dealt with him in the most appropriate way.

mustve been cheaper to keep mr. megson on monthly tick than give him his money upfront. i'd guess both knew one of the two might happen.

No. Megson said he was unable to take a job. This wasn't true.
And if Gartside thinks more of Megson than Allardyce, then he's a lunatic.

I think he meant it as in, he can't take another job, because it would mean we stop his wages. His new job would undoubtedly be paid less than his BWFC gardening leaveLord Kangana wrote:No. Megson said he was unable to take a job. This wasn't true.

Why? He might think Allardyce was the better manager of BWFC but not be able to stand him for personal or professional reasons but still have a personal friendship with Megson for all you know?Lord Kangana wrote:No. Megson said he was unable to take a job. This wasn't true.

Its perfectly possible to be friends with people you've worked with even if they were sacked or left or whatever. And I've worked with some really good people who on a personal level I'd rather stab my own eyes out than socialise with.

the allardyce stuff seemed miles 'worse' .
they might be best mates again, but i'd suspect he sees megson more.

Re: ta ra Joey O
Allardyce's leaving was worse because he was good and some wanted to stay, and people felt a bit cheated.
All but about three people breathed a hugh sigh of relief and gave a collective "thank f*ck for that" when Megson left.
Its not really comparable.

What you or anyone else thought about Megson is irrelevant.
Gartside clearly thought he'd done as much as he could do which is why he got rid.
But we don't know what their relationship was, from what has been said there was no falling out between the two.
It was quite clear that Gartside and Allardyce's relationship went completely sour over something, we don't know what. And that to this day I doubt either has spoken politely to the other. We simply don't know what caused that other than a variety of rumours that went around.

I'm missing no point. Gartside sacked Megson, he didn't sack Allardyce.
Point boiled down for you. Megson thought he wasn't worthy of the sack, Allardyce didn't care.

Gartside and Allardyce had a very public falling out.Lord Kangana wrote:I'm missing no point. Gartside sacked Megson, he didn't sack Allardyce.

He didn't to our knowledge with Megson.
Despite a rather nasty public falling out, we still sold Faye to Allardyce when he was at Newcastle.
I therefore see no reason why he wouldn't do business with Megson. Which is the original point that was made.

actually - no, that wasn't the original point. Bobo made the original point - and it wasn't about "doing business" with megson - it was about "helping" megson, doing him a favour. (and that was answered ages ago - we're not doing this to help megson.)

Re: ta ra Joey O
He could also have negotiated a buyout for less than the full contract, taken a job (assuming he could get one then) and been financially ahead. He would only accept a buyout for the full amount as I understand it. BWFC chose (rightly I believe) to pay him over time. He was free to take another job at any point but chose to take every nickel from us. This was his right, but he shouldn't moan about it now.boltonboris wrote:I think he meant it as in, he can't take another job, because it would mean we stop his wages. I think " business in the best interests of everybody concerned" would cover it. The rest is immaterial.

Bolton give midfield ace a helping hand
Author: Ben Moss
Bolton will pay Joey O'Brien's Premier League wages in full after agreeing to allow him to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan again.
Former Trotters boss Gary Megson has handed the midfielder a lifeline after an injury plagued two-and-a-half-years with knee trouble.
The 25-year-old is back at a club he previously spent three months with during the 2004/2005 season as he looks to build-up his match fitness.
O'Brien's career is now at a something of a crossroads with his existing deal with Wanderers set to expire in the summer, so a good run with Wednesday could help him secure a new contract at the Reebok or alternatively improve his prospects of finding another team in the summer.
Owls assistant manager Chris Evans said: "Joey is coming in at no cost to this club which is a huge positive. Obviously, like most footballers at some stage in their career, they get injured but he's coming back from his injury and has been playing reserve team football.
"A League One club is getting the opportunity to bring a Premier League player in - at no cost and therefore very little risk - but there could be very significant dividends," he added.
Meanwhile, O'Brien has expressed his gratitude to Wednesday and Megson for giving him the chance to play for them, and says he didn't think twice when the opportunity presented itself.
The Republic of Ireland international told the Yorkshire Post: "Gary Megson did a good job at Bolton. I'm delighted to come back here, and I've got the memories of when I played here when I was 18.
"My first game was against Hull, I scored and there were 28,000 there. It was unbelievable.
"Hopefully I can get some games under my belt, play well and then see what my options are.
"I know the manager, I know the club; being here just seems to fit."

I suspect he was on pay as you play anyway, given he signed a deal when he was crocked. This could of been the delay (ie do we pay him when he plays for Sheff Wed)?Lord Kangana wrote:No cost?

Also my understanding is if we had got a loan fee, then we couldn't recall him. I'd be surprised if we didn't want the option of recalling him, given we are down to 3 senior centre midfielders.

Bloody hell we've given him away for nowt and are paying his wages in full because its the right thing to do for a lad who could have made it with us but has been really unlucky with injuries.
He's out of contract in the summer so needs games to earn a deal somewhere. We're doing the decent thing.
Why the fook folk are moaning about it is beyond me!
