Some of the stuff on Owlstalk makes for ugly reading, a lot of the threads and tone of the posts reminds me a lot of what could be seen in these parts a couple of years ago. What a divisive character Megson is
At least it shows we were not unique in mistrust/dislike of Megon!!! He is a dinosaur
Re: Megson Watch
i was almost beginning to think we were maybe deluded towards the end when fans of other clubs were saying we should have been happy to have him, this all confirms we were right to stick with our views

Re: Megson Watch
With all this talk of needing to replace Capello, I'm surprised all the Journo's who were critical of us, haven't had the cojones to put his name forwards.
After all, it's such as waste, him loitering in the lower reaches of Div 1. Like it was when he was putting out cones at Stoke(?)...

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We were alright for an hour, we were the same as Southampton, they probably edged it in the first hour. It just shows how important it is getting the first goal. Whenever we've scored first we win. We're in a battle to stop Sheffield Wednesday going into the last flight in England, which is a shocking statement."
You should score first more often then, you prick.

Re: Megson Watch
I really wish I wasn't enjoying this saga so much. I wasn't a Megson hater though I was glad to see him go. However, I began to get annoyed when he kept banging on about us after he got the Wednesday job to the point that every failure he encounters gives me some guilty joyful satisfaction. We were not short-sighted, ungrateful bastards who didn't know football - we made the right change at the right time.

Apologies for may equally laxness of thought....Wheater or Knight. Does 4 fit into 2?

now I've seen it all!
and - the owls fans seem to think SirNut is some kind of an oracle!!sirnut wrote:Id like to Dedicate our cup run and our League position to Megson, He rebuilt our club from the pit and has secured us for the long term, Big Sam left us in the crap and Megson saved us. I think iv stated on here that the starting line up with our strongest team has 8 Megson Signings, 1 of Big Sams and 1 of Coyles, (this is 1 and a half season after Megson left) that just shows how much of a good job he did with building the squad whilst keeping us up with aload of crap. Megsons team is finally gelling and with players like Lee, Cahill, Robbo, Knight, Elmander, Mark Davies, Ricketts, Taylor, Klasnic, Steinson and Muamba is the main Reason why we are doing well.
I would like to say thank you to Gary Megson and his backroom staff for giving me the chance to see Wembley, Yes Coyle has done part of the job but lets see him do it without the superstars we have today.
I think most of us on here with any sense about how you build a team think GM will get it right...hopefully JOB can get his fitness back and hopefully will be a good edition to the team...there are however, idiots who think you can get a team together in 8 weeks and are already bleating about the team...you can't educate pork
you can't educate pork... and no point putting a tiara on a shirehorse.... those who know football....

Re: Megson Watch
Maybe its something to do with our major signings since Coyle came in...
Holden - Free
Wilshere - Loan
Weiss - Loan
Petrov - Free
Rodrigo - Loan
Alonso - £1.8m
Sturridge - Loan
Wheater - £1.8m
Somebody care to do a comparison on Megson's spend in the first 18months?

I love how he treats Coyle's input as a footnote. Don't get me wrong, the pieces were put in place by GM - but it's taken someone with the charisma and attitude of Coyle to turn a team and football club around.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"What annoyed me and what really incensed me is that I said to the referee as far as I'm aware and unless they've changed the rules while I've been not working, managers aren't allowed to talk to referees at half time, least of all put their arms around them. The referee in the second half was one-eyed at best, I thought it was awful."
Not Gary's fault again.
Did anybody put their arm around you when you were gardening Meggo? No, I didn't think so, you prick.

Re: Megson Watch
Sounds like Gary is delighting the Wednesday faithful, with a 4-5-1 formation, with two central defenders at full back, three defensive central midfielders, and two wide men in their thirties with no pace, leaving a relatively decent striker to fight for long balls against the opposition's whole defence, with no team mate within 30/40 yards.
Sound familiar?
