if you speak to them , they might do it anyway.

i'd buy the new style one while they fix it, and ebay the mended one when they send it back.

FWIW It's one with a hard-drive.. Unsure of the Gig. But it's about 3-3.5 years old

sack off the wife, get a new xbox. It'll do all she does, and more!

You don't need food, it's just a ploy from the food companies to get you to buy their products

3DS on friday, anyone tempted? ;-)

Also, I was wondering people's thoughts on Homefront, if you've grabbed it?

Welcome back oh disappeared one...

My 8YO is VERY interested in the 3DS, which is a bit of a pain in the 'arris for him, as his birthday isn't for months yet and Christmas has only just passed...

Had a small go on homefront so far. Can't say I'm overly thrilled. SP seemed somewhat like Half Life but a poorer relation.

MP SHOULD be brilliant but I found it sooooo laggy it was almost unplayable. And it took 30 minutes to connect to their servers and find a match in the first place.

Hopefully it'll get better. But anyways I'm mostly excited for Crysis 2 anyways!

Wasn't "disappeared" mate, couldn't log in for 2 weeks! Incidentally, thanks to Kev for fixing that prob! :-)

3DS...be careful, it's *not* reccomended for children of a certain age (struggling to remember which) and also has a VERY short battery life (full 3D it can last as short at 2-3 hours). I think 8 years old should be okay though.

I'd expect a 3DS MKII within 12 months tbh. So many features are there as "coming soon" or "will be available with future update". If you *do* buy one, think of it as an investment.

Homefront...well, they've added a load of servers, the game sold *very* well (went in the UK Charts at #1) and I don't think they expected it, despite marketing the hell out of it.

Had another go, the lag was a bit better. However its still not perfect. And there are other glaring issues, like how sometimes "jumping" over a tiny bump in the ground takes ages and you get stuck not being able to move forwards or backwards. Also the "not being able to shoot through cover of any kind" thing is almost a game killer. Bullets are repelled by leaves, wooden fences, boxes etc. Even a ruddy tank can't shoot through it. And there are framerate and pop-in issues sometimes even when not laggy it can feel a bit "sluggish".

It has the basis of a decent game but I think the SP is rubbish and the MP is potentially brilliant but has too many flaws currently. Will keep going with it though, hoping they patch some of these issues.

Oh and one other point I'm not a great player, and certainly not a great sniper but on one map last night I sniped from the top of a hill and killed 10 people in a row right across the opposite side of the map. Which either means the opponents were rubbish (which they weren't) or the sniper is overpowered on some maps because normally if I get 3 kills in a row I'm doing fairly well.

I reviewed Homefront, and gave it a 7/10, which I still stand by.

The single player is criminally short, and could have been incredible. The multiplayer will be forgotten in 6 months, tbh, in 6 weeks at this rate!

Lads got a Turtle Beach x11 headset

I have no audio outputs on my xbox, so I've had to use the xbox composite/splitter to attach the headsets red n whites to

I'm supposed to be able to use the rcas on the back of my tv but that doesn't work for whatever reason

Anyway, everything working, but I'm no longer using hdmi to connect xbox to tv so loss of video quality

Any ideas or help or questions?

One of those is what you need assuming you have the AV connector slot above your HDMI slot on your Xbox.

It would appear so, thanks

So does that fit alongside the HDMI cable?

I'm still not sure why I can't use the red white outputs on the back of the telly?

Any ideas?

You sure they're outputs and not inputs? Mine doesn't have those outputs other than through component! IE not through HDMI channel.

S'pose they could be inputs...it's not clear on the back of the TV

I'd check the manual but I'm a bloke :)

Anyway, does the adapter fit in the slot when HDMI is in as well?

Lad says he'll trade HDMI for composite if it means his headset works

the xbox normally comes with either the Analogue HD component cable (with the six? ends) or the Standard Def only RCA / scart cable (with the three), it looks to me like it wants to use the red/white audio ends from these.

it then looks like it wants pluggin' in to some adapter on the next pic , then plugin' that into the inputs on the telly. output is probably wrong , the ones on the back of the tellies usually are inputs.

if youve not done no googlin' this may help

Image

dont know if you can shove the wide socket on the component/scart cable into the console at the same time as a hdmi, there used to be some issue where it blocked another socket, but i forget which one.

the photo above claims it does hdmi (with the hdmi cable plugged in too) when the headset is rigged up.

if its rigged up right and no sound is coming out check the sound settings on the xbox. might want changing from a digital audio setting to an analogue one. or changing where the "game chat" comes out from (tv , headset or both ??? )

its hard figuring out the route the sound is taking. its like a happy meal maze puzzle.

Well it does on mine and its how I got the turtle beach's working.

I think A1 is right in that some of the old models had AV sockets that blocked the HDMI socket. But in mine the AV socket, (a wide slim socket) sits directly above the HDMI one and both fit in at the same time. You might want to check where your socket is located. Think its more than likely it'll be ok with this adapter as that is what sorted my problem out. But check the sockets first!

You'd still need something to plug the transmitter into surely?

Not sure that would solve this particular issue.
