Megson Watch

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

This.

It is cruel to give them such an olive branch, when the reality is that they have appointed someone who just doesn't undertand the modern game or player - and was always pretty average at best when hard work without talent or brains could get you further than today.

FWIW - I tried to register to give them another BWFC viewpoint, but by the time I had entered the validation code the information they gave me had lapsed - and it wasn't important enough for me to try again.
Please do, they'll tell you where to go with your inept one sided views. You won't have the usual flock backing you up there.

Is that it?

Come on, I want more detail than that. What about Wheater's influence? Coyle giving Bogdan a chance etc?

Listen mate, you're doing yourself no favours. Its untrue to suggest that everything Megson did was wrong/bad whatever. We probably needed a bloke like him after Lee's mess and he stabilised the club. And for that season and a half he probably hit the objectives most reasonable folk had.

But when he left we were 18th with 18 points from 18 games. We were in shite. Coyle kept us up and there is just no argument whatsoever that we're better off now with Coyle than we were with Megson.

Half the players would be long gone had Megson still been here, including Elmander who I know you rate. He has said that himself in interviews.

Megson did a job for a while, but he couldn't move things forwards. Perhaps ultimately though he won't get credit for it, the job he did saved BWFC from a big mess. But to come and argue that he is a "genious" and Coyle is a fraud is really stretching things beyond any sort of reality. Obviously you're not going to see this as you're totally wrapped up in your argument.

Fair play.

But you're not doing yourself any favours by dismissing the very obvious and cold hard facts, that Coyle has got more out of these players than Megson ever managed. More by a long chalk.

Anyways, this is my one attempt at a reasonable post on this stuff. I don't intend to get drawn back into this debate again!

Listen we'll see where we are in about 3 seasons and we'll see where Sheff Wednesday are in 3 seasons, you'll then eat your words. A Motivator can only take you so far.

Its definitely 3 years right? Not 2 years and a couple of months? That isn't long enough, right? I take it neither would 11 months and 30 days? Specifically 3 seasons?

Yeah, and it's a lot further than a limited bully-boy could ever get you. In three seasons time, Wednesday won't be anywhere near the Premier League, certainly not with Megson in charge. I wouldn't be surprised if they were closer to the Blue Square. In contrast, in three seasons time, I would estimate that we'll still be somewhere in the Premier League.

And your comment about the Owls laughing off the sensible viewpoint about Megson? Gimme a break. I've seen that forum, and they're beginning to see the truth about him even without our kind assistance.

To be fair should the measure not be to "see where Coyle and Megson respectively are in 3 seasons time", as I suspect there is a decent chance neither will be at the clubs they are currently employed by!

Aye, with the cyclical nature of football, we're bound to get relegated sooner or later, and Wednesday to get promoted. I doubt Megson or Coyle will be a part of that.

That might be a good'un, actually. And I still stand that Megson will be closer to the Blue Square than anything else, whereas Coyle...well, if Coyle isn't still with us (which, touch wood, he will be) I'd say Arsenal?

Anyway, I thought you were only back on here to do a fellow wanderer a favour?

Well now you have (and I have commended you twice on the fact) would you now please leave and re-take your seat in the Parliament? I'm sure they must be missing your consoling words in their ear as your lover eviscerates their club.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe a bit longer than 3 months depending if they are able to survive, but not even close to 3 years. At Sheffield Wednesday he has been given a honeymoon, something not given at Bolton, but the fans seem to be turning much faster than most ever did here. If they lose this weekend you'll hear the squawk as far away as the Reebok.
