Re: The Politics Thread
Off the top of my head in the NSW State election Labour had lost 25 seats with 14 or 17 seats and The Coalition had a gain of 28 for 68 seats.
47 is needed to become Government

Thought it was relevant as so many seats were Lost/Won

No, everyone expected that. They did well to secure a Test XV.

"June 2009, a few weeks before the Afghan elections the Karzi govt passed a law that said Afghan men can withhold food from their wives if they did not have sex a min of 3 times a week, legalised rape! British soldiers had to protect the Karzi regime during those elections over 20 soldiers died & many more with amputations & serious injuries, at that time Gordon Clown & his deputy & "Women's Minister" harriet hatesmen stood by & did nothing. They could have refused the use of British soldiers protecting those elections as this behaviour is not what 350 plus British soldiers have died for & many thousands with amputations. Clown & harmen did nothing so they set the example for other similar regimes.
lets not have any more of this is labour we stand up for women's rights around the world, socialist nonsense, its a pack of lies. The torment & horror this woman went through & now face should make the likes of Clown & harmen hang their heads in shame. Lets see these pages full with women standing up for their fellow womenfolk. I wont hold my breath, not when they have distractions like strictly come numptie, x factor, take me out & loose women to occupy their 13 second attention span".
A comment on the Politics of caring Socialists!!! brought about by the alleged rape and abuse of the woman who burst into the news hotel in Libya.
This crap would not happen on planet hoboh, a few more votes and the cartel is broken!!!

Re: The Politics Thread
You might not have noticed Hoboh, but there was this thing called an "election" last year.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Sorry! so going to sleep and literally defending abuse of woman was OK because we were having an election? I suppose Kazi just made this one up minutes before the close of HIS election then?
FACE FACTS, HARPERPERSON WAS BUSY NEUTRALISING GENDER OVER HERE WITH BROWNNOSE'S BLESSING BECAUSE THE DELUDED MUPPET WAS CONVICED WE WERE ALL THICK AND WOULD RE- ELECT HIM.
btw, just to be clear, Brown nose was ruining everything in 2009, we evicted him in 2010

Re: The Politics Thread
As a rule, I never pay attention to anything written by anyone who constantly refers to politicians and such figures by hillarious plays on their name. Gordon Clown/Brown-nose, Harriet Harperson (funny the first time someone came up with it, not the 8,000th) Tony B-liar etc etc etc.

ditto, and hilarious plays on party names. Though that's a yank speciality.

Re: The Politics Thread
I always enjoy hoboh's contributions though, which bring a much needed breeze of raving madness into the proceedings. Though often, tantalisingly, when he's really going for it, have something approaching thought, almost, in one or two of the subordinate clauses. Like, you know that somewhere in there might be an opinion that aspires to something in the neighbourhood of rationality - if only he could overcome the Harriett problem...

Re: The Politics Thread
We were "reassured" by Cable and countless lib dems that £9000 was the absolute tops and that not many universities would charge that much - in fact they'd have to provide pretty strong justification for doing so...
they reckoned the average would be about £7,500.
hmmmmm...
as the universities now fall over themselves to announce they will be charging £9000 - Cable is now back asking them very kindly not to - cos they hadn't reckoned on having to lend as much as that will now cost
Cable and Co thought (stupidly) that allowing a range £7000-£9000 would somehow create a "market" in fees where universities would outdo each other with competitive fee-rates. well - duh!! - that would only ever work if demand didn't outstrip supply - which is manifestly does!
making up policy on the hoof - he now says (emptily) that he is going to take places away from universities that charge £9000 - what a stupid amateur shambles...
(also - Cameron is now muttering about changing the flagship NHS policy - again - not thought out....)

Re: The Politics Thread
Bish what they didn't reckon on was that once the first Uni's announced the £9000 fee what uni was going to come out and basically say "its £7000 here" which is basically saying "we're second rate"?thebish wrote:We were "reassured" by Cable and countless lib dems that £9000 was the absolute tops and that not many universities would charge that much - in fact they'd have to provide pretty strong justification for doing so...

The government is already an embarrassing shambles.

Oh, hang on...
It ain't going to wash I'm afraid.
Stable and working NHS, decent set of public services, growth in the economy, and a deficit that was no different to the deficit Labour inherited in the 90's, that was in large part down to a global banking crisis.
VS
NHS in absolute crisis, rising unemployment, destruction of public services, slowing of economic growth and a marginally reduced deficit.
I know which scenario I prefer.

Re: The Politics Thread
Its every parties excuse, how many times do you hear them blaming the other lot (either party) and telling us what they did wrong and the mess they got us into but never how they are going to sort it, start doing this and answering questions properly then I might start listening to them but at the moment they all need lining up against a wall.
