Owen Hargreaves
I reckon we should sign him.
I reckon he'd sign for us.
1 year deal....pay as you play.....
makes sense

<Cough>
Are we still set-up across the back-room physio team from when we signed Quinton Fortune?
With Joey O'Brien now at Sheffield Wednesday, I think 30 of them were recently made redundant.

His Dad lives in Bolton, and supports us too, making us a likely destination as any if he doesn't retire before moving I reckon.

Re: Owen Hargreaves
4 appearances in his last 3 seasons...
Only 23 appearances in his first season at Man U
Averaged 20 appearances a season for Bayern Munich
Sorry for him personally, but can't see it being good business for us even on a pay per play basis. The cost in physio work alone could add up to more than Holden gets paid.

It's a shame he is such a mess. Wasn't his father once part of the Bolton youth acedamy?

Don't see the problem if its pay as you play. We took a gamble with Eidurgur. Sometimes clubs like us have to.

We won't be paying the hospital bills. We already pay the Physio team, it'll be good practice for them.
As I say, given the right deal, it could be a plus for the club. Not only are getting known for bringing on young players, making us a destination of choice for the high quality loanee, we could also recapture some of the Allardyce magic where players knew we could prolong their career.

A fully fit Holden and Hargreaves would be an amazing partnership, shame that Hargreaves is never fully fit.

Not sure we've had much success prolonging long term car crashes. We have managed to sort out return's to form and ageing galactico's.Lord Kangana wrote:We won't be paying the hospital bills. We already pay the Physio team, it'll be good practice for them.

We're now down to 2 physios, after 30 were laid off when JO'B went to Sheffield.
Wouldn't be really against it in principle though, I guess. Just not optimistic of the chances of success with someone who has tendonitis in both knees. If he gets shunted from Manure because he's lost his skill/form then fair do's. But, it looks like he might get shunted, because he's completely wrecked.

Re: Owen Hargreaves
His problems are partly psychological. Out of he glare and free from the pressure of a a Champions League Club, he may just find someting. And remember, Gudjohnsson was playing in Iceland because he's had two cruciates and nobody wanted to take a risk on him.
Its ideal.

Re: Owen Hargreaves
IIRC Eidur had a broken ankle before he came here. He was 19 or 20 and needed mental and physical rebuilding but he was a young man and at the time we had better physio and medical facilities in the UK than they used in Europe for sporting injuries.
Hargreaves as has been pointed out has tendonitis in both knees. From what I've heard its not a question of whether he plays for Man Utd again but whether he plays football again full stop.
Really not sure that you can say the sort of injuries this lad has had are "psychological". Great when he was fully fit and at his best but lets face it, chances are he's retiring season end. Sometimes players are just unlucky with injuries and there is nowt that can be done! This is one of those cases.

Re: Owen Hargreaves
Eidur couldn't get a club, because everyone (himself included) thought he was finished because of a couple of bad injuries.
We have very little to lose on a deal like this. If he's retiring, then of course we won't get him. Thats a fait accompli. But if he isn't.

Re: Owen Hargreaves
I saw his debut in the reserves against Man City at Maine Road, he was immense.
Also trialling that day was a Danish full back who was an international. Cannot remember his name though.

Speaking of injured midfielders, what's happening with our own forgotten man, Sean Davies?
