awful....embarrassing....pathetic...some of the words used to decribe yesterdays debacle at Wembley....

agree that Wembley is not the best stadium in the Uk...although it doesnt matter what pitch you play on if your team decide to not turn up..

Still in shock really, Im glad I took today off work Im not functioning too well. Had a quick look in the paper, lowest player ratings Ive ever seen; Petrov 2, Klasnic 3, Robinson 3, not a single player over 5.

A poster earlier in this thread said something just didn't feel "right" about today once inside the ground, I know how you mean. Felt slightly detatched from it all as my seat was the very back row of the first tier underneath a large overhang so couldn't feel the atmosphere very well - not an enjoyable match experience on all fronts.

And all that after what was a quite brilliant day really. Stood outside The Greyhound pub in the sun for hours knocking back cans from the offy, bumping into faces Id not seen for years and everyone to a man woman and child having a great time. Even laughed when whoever climbed the tree and jumped around so all the pink leaves completely showered us all stood beneath it making it look like we'd all been to a wedding!

What were you expecting? A wall of noise from our end at 5-0 down? The only people i saw 'leaving' at 3-0 were people who were going to the bar downstairs before half-time. They reappeared in the second half.
Yeah the fans didn't get much chance to get in it. Early goal against with a poor mistaken, then you could see we were all at sea and the nerves kicked in on and off the pitch. Then the goals came quite steadily.

I would've liked a "one Nat Lofthouse" chant to finally try and lift the guys up and remind them what this club can achieve, but alas...

What was probably worse than anything else, was travelling home on a train full of Stoke fans, who didn't even take the pi$$. They were too embarrased for us.

Listening to them rattle on about "scoring proper goals, not involving dead balls" just made it worse.

Not in the knee-jerk club. We've had some great games this season. Moreso than I can remember for some while. Some of our players need a good look at themselves this morning. As do some of our fans - you're not Wigan supporters.

Decent enough trip down, shared with unknown Wanderers and great to meet up with peeps off here when we got to London. Was a good craic outside the Greyhound and a decent chinese in China Town after the match. Sunshine and a few scoops, blighted by 90 minutes of dogshit in the middle of it.

Yeah that was really strange, I didn't see one Stoke fan celebrating on the way back.

They were as sombre as we were.

Me too.

Incidentally what the feck was the stadium announcer on about when he said, 'Here's a tune that the Bolton fans will recognise'... i was waiting for the 'Lion of Vienna' to boom out across the stadium and then he played some Indie dirge to complete silence. I have literally never heard the song before in my life. Why he thought it was 'special' to us is beyond me.

To add insult to injury he then played 'Delilah' to which all the Stoke supporters sang along.

You should have been on the coaches back, complete opposite. In fact, from what we saw, Stoke's fans behaviour was seriously terrible. A huge amount of Stoke fans attacking the Bolton coaches as we left, and a good number of Stoke fans were outside the stadium taunting Bolton fans with at least 15 minutes of the match left. On the motorway ride home too, their fans were not gracious in victory either. You obviously expect abit of banter but this was much more malicious rather than playful celebrating.

I've heard Bolton fans were bad in parts but I didn't see any of it, so don't know how they compare to Stoke, but a bitter taste has definitely been left and I hope they get battered by City and we beat City on the last game of the season, causing Stoke to not qualify for Europe. Abit harsh maybe since it's not the full representation of Stoke's fans (although there seemed to be a good mixture of the typical thug football fan/families/average fans getting in on the action) but what can you do.

I was thrown by that one too... definitely Stoke's day.

Didn't hear it, friend. If it was at ten to four, I was - get this - requesting a replacement ticket for the one I'd lost

Come on guys,

We've had our knee jerks. I for one wanted a refund yesterday but lets not get at each other.

It was expensive yesterday but we knew it before we went. If we'd won 5-0 it wouldn't have mattered. We can go on and on about the performance but what's that going to acheive. Lets put this one to bed as a "Rabbit in the headlights" and concentrate on the next game.

Looking at how Davo reacted on twitter shows that we aren't the only ones hurting.
