Seriously that Deano miss, at least the team tried. 100% yesterday has somehow managed to turn that into a positive memory of sorts.
I genuinely can#t see myself thinking anything positive about the majority of our players yesterday ever again.

Yep I was thinking back fondly to that miss today. I was only 12 years old and absolutely gutted but still proud to be a wanderer that day.officer_dibble wrote:Thats moved to the 'happy place' in my head and been replaced in the 'nightmare bin' by the 80 minutes i managed yesterday!thebish wrote:anyone who thinks they will ever truly be over it is kidding himself...

Re: Semi Final Match Thread
Kind of how I feel still even today. I know that life goes on and that the club cannot get rid of every useless wankshaft that played yesterday. But like you they've all sullied their memories now. We've always at least come out and tried and at least been organised and moderately competent for the level we've been at. Yesterday we were none of those, for the biggest game we've been in for years.officer_dibble wrote:HAd a shite day today at work as im sure everyone has. People have tried to not speak to me but even people wanting to show sympathy I have held in contempt. I've been such a grumpy bastard,
Losing is fine. Losing 5-0 to a team below us in the league having just wilted and died without so much as a whimper...absolutely disgraceful.
There are players there who have tarnished careers with BWFC. People like Kevin Davies, Jussi. I'm not sure if I can ever forgive them. When I see that list of all time appearances and Jussi will be on it (hopefully nowhere near hopkinsons record - should be dropped for good now) I'm sure I will come back to this day where he played like an absolute soppy tw*t.
I read what I wrote on p13 and yeah normally I cringe a bit at post match + beers knee jerk bollocks after football has ruined my day out...I was fecking right. To the word. I would still transfer list every single one of those bastards. Would you want any of them in the trenches with you? Would you bollocks. They would probably sit there on twitter "Lolling" whilst we all got killed!! I know I'm wrong, I know Coyle will sort this out, but I've had the season absolutely f*cking ruined and I'm going to rant about it!
Yeah I know I will get some shit for that but thats what it feels like...enjoyed some cracking games this year, yet what will I remember? complete capitulation.
I see Kevins apologised. Looks like it really hurt him. And yet I dont care how he feels...well I do...I want him to hurt, I want the money grabbing mercenaries to feel an inch of my pain. To a man (well mouse) they all wilted. We deserve better. They should be fined, as a group what everyones tickets cost and donate it to charity...or even better our transfer kitty to replace them next year.
Horrible match. Has certainly put me off next week; I was already double booked...not any more. At the moment I can well see myself avoiding the football again until next season...and I hope we change some personnel...all this time devoted to looking on here, going to the game, getting worked up about going to Wembley etc etc absolutely ruined. I hold the players in complete contempt and totally responsible. Yes Coyle got his team wrong, but he didn't tell those wankers to go out there and not try did he.
Epic rant but glad its out of my system. Couldn't give a flying f*ck how the season finishes now. Means nothing.
Folk lambasted Megson for Lisbon, but truth is that fooking second and third string team performed better, were better organised and better prepared than the utter shambles that took to the field yesterday masquerading as our strongest team.
Sadly I hate every single one of them now with a passion. That will die down over time and its certainly not how I want to feel. But you can't help how you feel about things like this.
I really would have preferred York to have dicked us (as they deserved to) in the third round rather than go through all this even though we'd have not had the Brum memories. But that itself is now ruined by this!
Re: Semi Final Match Thread
I thought I'd give it 24 hours before I posted anything, just to give me time to reflect. Im still gutted, embarrassed and ashamed of the performance. I still hate the fact that this month Ive got to pay off the 200 quid on my credit card that yesterday cost me (Yes, I know that it's peanuts compared to what some of you spent).
It's the frustration that is still eating me up, the fact that we were out thought from minute one. You know what you are going to get from Stoke, 10 men behind the ball when they lose possession, double man marking on your wide players etc, but to try and play football against them was never going to work. We needed to go 5 across midfield and stifle them as much as they did us and hope that we could find a gap somewhere. It didn't happen. We haven't got the talent to break down teams like that, but on reflection, I'm only feeling what Arsenal fans felt for several years every time they played us under BSA. What goes around comes around.
On the way home, my mate stopped at the services and stood talking to a Stoke fan whilst waiting for a free bog. The guy's dad was in a cubicle taking rather a long time and by the time they decided to have a look if he was ok, the guy was dead behind the door. They tried to revive him, but my mate wasn't sure when he left whether the guy made it or not.
Puts it all into perspective. We lost one footie match and I lost 200 quid. Some poor bastard may have lost his dad and I'm betting he'd swap places with me right now. End of whinging.

Big shout out to Bruce. I wouldn't ordinarily assume such things as to say you were a bit lubricated, but you did give me a hug

Unfortunately the word on the stoke fan isn't good I don't think....I've seen it elsewhere but not confirmed that he nay not have pulled through. I hope it isn't as bad as I fear.

To be honest, I think I've finally got over Deano's miss now. Yesterday well and truly knocked it off its perch and put it into perspective.
Yesterday was Holdsworth³ x Anelka² + Vaz Te.

It was weird, this game. Just like the Carling Cup final too. I watched with a real detachment (unintentionally) - feeling increasingly numb as the goals went flying in.
Even on my other away trips (and defeats) I've never felt this. I never felt so detached.

I think, more than anything else, it's the fact that in both games, we never really got going. We get ourselves really gee'd up, but then we see it affecting nothing...HMX wrote:It was weird, this game. Just like the Carling Cup final too. Tranmere play off is up there an all.......
Now you mention it, the Brizzle City one is the closest. They cam out of the traps and smashed us.
Though I'm sure we had a couple of chances. We had none yesterday.

To add.. how we didn't get a penalty for Huth manhandling Davies I'll never ever know.
Oh yes, Howard Webb, of course.

If there's one person who came out of yesterday looking well it's Deano. The fact that he did step up and score his penalty after makes him Nat Lofthouse compared to everyone who wore a white shirt yesterday.thebish wrote:anyone who thinks they will ever truly be over it is kidding himself...

I second the feeling of detachment while watching it as well. I skipped feeling anxious or angry or devastated, and headed straight for bemusement. I'm still not 100% sure I've fully registered that it actually happened.

I definitely haven't. I think I remember going to Wembley, but I'm almost certain I dreamed it...Tombwfc wrote:If there's one person who came out of yesterday looking well it's Deano. Still feeling numb from yesterday.
At 4 o clock yesterday, I felt like everything was going to go our way. Watching Davo walk out with the pride he did and our crowd were buzzing with excitement. The stadium was strange got to say. Never been to either Wembley and felt detached and further away all game.
Davo was ineffective, Elmo is not a centre mid (and without europe I suspect no longer a wanderer) and our defense was non existent. The first two goals were defensive slip ups and after that it was all too easy for them.
Fair plays to every one who stayed to the 90th and clapped off the boys (which I did) and especially well done to the lads who stood up and supported the lads for all 90, after the 5th goal I couldn't force myself to sing anymore.
If you'd have offered me a top ten and an fa cup semi I'd hav snatched your hands off in august. Still proud of getting so far no matter what happened
Good luck to stoke in he final, hope they win it now
