Especially when we'll be left with an ageing and increasingly ineffective and very definitely slow Kevin Davies and a bloke who's turned into a poor signing in Klasnic who can manage about 15 minutes every few weeks, but certainly ain't a starter.

Hey its ok, there's always loadsa strikers with goals and pace in them knocking around in our price bracket! FFS.

And the list of players someone has put up including Pavlychenko and Aguero is just laughable!

Our best hope might be to persuade Chelsea to let us have Sturridge for another season but I suspect thats very unlikely indeed.

I believe Danny Ward will be in the squad next year. I also think if Sturridge doesn't come back then the reputation Coyle's building as an improver of young talent should see us attracting someone of his ilk to us.

Be reet.
How many goals has Ward scored at Huddersfield? In fact how many career goals has he got?

If we're pinning our hopes on a player who has never had a premiership or top level start then I'm really not as confident as you!

Fair enough. I'm obviously a glass half full man. Although yesterday I think someone p*ssed in it. I also think a bit went on my chips. :|

I'm not altogether sure that anybody major is going to come in for Elmander, particularly in the Premier league. He's a decent hard-working player and has skills, but is he that much better than a lot of Prem stikers? Foreign club maybe, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see him re-sign if OC guarantees to pay him as a striker.

If any of them were wathcing yesterday, then he's going nowhere.

If he is going, I hope at least he goes with a shout and something for us to regret, rather than a whimper and our last memories being that debacle. That would just be the icing on the cake for our record signing.

The manager can't be promising anything like that. Either you want to play or you don't, in my opinion.

A big, quick, powerful striker who can score goals would be perfect. We probably can't afford that from the PL. Even 8M for Kenwyn Jones is too much for us at the minute, esp after Elmo. It's going to have to be from the Championship or smaller leagues around the world.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I think we should get rid of Davies and Klasnic and keep Elmander. then we'll need 3 strikers to sign though.

I don't agree in getting rid of both, and if a gun is put to my head probably I will drop Klasnic. They should be used better and they still have a place in the team.

Elmander is one of the very very few who could genuinely be partially excused for Wembley seeing as he was asked to play in midfield. It didn't work. I don't think he did anything particularly wrong, he did the same as against West Ham, ran at them but Stoke are a far superior side and their midfield didn't collapse like jelly, and so that rather one dimensional aspect Elmander brought failed. And then of course we knew the rest of his game was hardly suitable for a midfield 2! In that particular case I don't 100% blame the player, I blame the manager.

What about Craig Bellamy? He said he's not going to be staying at Cardiff next season and I doubt Man City will keep him. But I wonder if he'll be in our price range.

He would be very likely to join us if we went for him I'd have thought, he has family who live in Rochdale (I work with someone who's best mates with Obafemi's brother, who lives there), so I guess a move here would suit him.

With OC's emphasis on togtherness and team spirit I doubt Bellamy would be everybody's mate here. So far he's managed to get players who get on and enjoy their club and football. I imagine he'll have that in mind with who he bids for. It's his way.

I think he makes an exception if they've played for City, so who knows

That reminds me, I'd forgotten about January's SWP rumour.

Problem with anyone at Man City is that their players' ridiculous wages mean they'll never leave.

I'd LOVE to sign Craig Bellamy though FWIW.

He's seemingly not motivated by hoarding every penny he can as he gives millions to his project in Sierra Leone, although that's a reason to keep earning £100k a week!

Injury situation has been better since his work with Verheijen as well.
