Re: Trotters take aim at The Gunners - Match Thread
And I did play. Took me ages to decide whether to play Moreno up top and Blake wide left or vice-versa. I figured we needed the pace out wide. Well, when I say "we", I mean an entirely fictional construct that couldn't possibly happen in real life - but hey, it works for Football Manager...officer_dibble wrote:Cheers for playingDave Sutton's barnet wrote:OK, I'll play along. I do think Muamba gets a lot of unfair criticism generally.officer_dibble wrote:Cheers for playingDave Sutton's barnet wrote:OK, I'll play along. We'd get bummed. I'm not sure we want that again.
Team looks fine to me. I'd probably play Fabrice actually as for me he was the only one who stood up in that first half and I think its unfair to tar him with the same brush as every other bastard.
I'd rather be bummed with that team...if the "first" team play and win I'll be f*cked off cos they bottled it when it mattered. If they lose i'll be f*cked off cos they haven't gone for the jugular and tried to win. Draw either of the above depending on the nature of it.
At least if the stiffs play anything they get will be a bonus.
I'm still numb....I know this is exactly why I could not manage Bolton Wanderers, care too much and hurting too much right now...I know Coyle won't do the above and I know he's probably right, but thats how I feel - I cannot bear to see Jussi/Steinsson/Robinson/Cahill/Knight/Elmander/Davies/Petrat/Klasnic in our team at the moment...not forgiven!!!

Re: Trotters take aim at The Gunners - Match Thread
As noted in the other thread, Nixon is reporting that Jussi and Robbo might be dropped. It wouldn't surprise me if Wheater returns, and frankly it would astonish me if Petrov starts. Mavis might be now be ready to start even if he can't finish (and surely we won't see Elmander start in central midfield again). Add the return of Sturridge and we're already looking at a fair few changes. It wouldn't surprise me if Eaves makes the bench, this weekend or slightly later, as Coyle assess the squad, but I think it would be a bit knee-jerky to whack him straight in - especially as the publicly "ashamed and embarrassed" captain will presumably be utterly desperate to make good.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Get Eaves in. It could look something like Bogdan; Steinsson, Cahill, Wheater, Alonso; CYL, Muamba, Mavis, Taylor; Sturridge, Kavies - with Jussi, Knight, Robbo, Cohen, Petrov, Elmo and Klasnic on the bench. And I think that might be enough to satisfy the bloodlust, the need for change, the need to check players out – and the need to try to beat Arsenal.

Whilst I'm all for a shake up the thought of Alonso against Walcott makes me feel a bit sick!

Well, if he starts Jussi I hope he tells him to keep the lower left of the onion bag covered. If he has designs on being Arse's next damager then I hope he picks the strongest squad.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

He didn't drop Jussi for Bogdan at the Emirates. We had no choice but to play him.Gooner Girl wrote:Bogdan played in the match at the Emirates and i thought he was quite good (despite letting a fair few inCrazyHorse wrote:I can't see Coyle dropping Jussi for Bogdan. Against Arsenal.)

Yes please! If we're shaking things up, lets shake things up in such a way that Ricardo gets appearance #500 for the Whites!chaddy_bwfc wrote:Agreed! Bring Gardner backBWFC_Insane wrote:Whilst I'm all for a shake up the thought of Alonso against Walcott makes me feel a bit sick!

Although left stranded by Petrov, Robbo got turned inside-out by Jermaine Pennant (who, incidentally, many on here openly laughed at the idea of Bolton signing).BWFC_Insane wrote:Whilst I'm all for a shake up the thought of Alonso against Walcott makes me feel a bit sick!
If Walcott is fed and on form there isn't a player at our club who can cope with him.

Absolutely but Larsson at Brum tore Alonso apart.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Although left stranded by Petrov, Robbo got turned inside-out by Jermaine Pennant (who, incidentally, many on here openly laughed at the idea of Bolton signing).BWFC_Insane wrote:Whilst I'm all for a shake up the thought of Alonso against Walcott makes me feel a bit sick!

Robbo does have the experience factor, and to be fair to him has been our most consistent defender this year though Sunday he was abysmal. Was leaving him out for 2 games a big factor? Was he "rusty"?
We all know he's limited in ability and will struggle against pacy wingers but there haven't been too many times when I've thought he's completely out of this!

We've needed two new fullbacks for two seasons now
Sink or swim with Alonso
New one at the right over that Icelandic prick

That lineup is the one (apart from Sturridge and Bogdan) I'd have used against Stoke, for what it's worth.Bogdan; Steinsson, Cahill, Wheater, Alonso; CYL, Muamba, Mavis, Taylor; Sturridge, Kavies - with Jussi, Knight, Robbo, Cohen, Petrov, Elmo and Klasnic on the bench. Unless we're thinking the team are totally useless, instead of just having one nightmare game, a good rollocking/pep-talk from the boss should be all it needs, not a mass execution. It's only a few days ago we were all in ecstasy at whacking West Ham. Everybody hasn't suddenly gone useless overnight have they? Bit of proportion needed for me.
