Boltons next top striker?

Re: Boltons next top striker?
He's been their best player by a country mile. If we want Davo MkII he is as close to it as there is out there. Strong, willing runner, gets goals, holds it up. Would be a cracking signing. Wolves, should they go down would probs be looking to get back what they paid though.

There's some more at Arsenal. How's Henri Lansbury been playing for Norwich? He's the next Arsenal midfielder who needs a work placement. Or maybejustpossibly Aaron Ramsey, if Wenger thinks he needs another extended spell.Athers wrote:Just wondering who we might get on loan from a big team next year and all I come up with is a list of United's kids - Macheda, Diouf, Welbeck etc.

Re: Boltons next top striker?
out of man utds current youth crop welbeck and cleverley look the most promising however i would think they are in a similar position to sturridge, do they stay at man utd and battle for a place or cut their losses and move to another premier league side on a permanent deal? i think the same could be said for bebe and obertan. out of their reserve crop ive heard good things about that paul pogba, apparently their next top talent, however he's only 18 so might not go out on loan just yet..at least not at this level.

I like Doyle, but he scores less than Davies and wins less headers.. He works the channels well, but he won't need that attribute as much here.

Re: Boltons next top striker?
Important, I think, not to obsess too much with trying to find Davies II. That's not to decry what he's done for us, and Coyle is well aware of the man's usefulness, but I think there's a fair chance he won't be desperate to land a like-for-like replacement. Coyle will always want willing workers - indeed, his system demands it - but I wonder whether his idea of a future Bolton (one which he may now accelerate towards) relies less on target men and more on rapid movement. True, we've had great success by mixing it up, but that may be partly due to squad circumstance. I have a strong feeling that Coyle's ideal striker is more Sturridge than Drogba.

in that case would people like obafemi martins, kenwyne jones and asamoah gyan be good targets?

No that would be a list of names of players we won't be getting anywhere near signing.meehan95 wrote:in that case would people like obafemi martins, kenwyne jones and asamoah gyan be good targets?

Didn't realise Martins cost Rubin €17m last summer. But they might be open to a season-long loaner.BWFC_Insane wrote:No that would be a list of names of players we won't be getting anywhere near signing.meehan95 wrote:in that case would people like obafemi martins, kenwyne jones and asamoah gyan be good targets?

My favourite thing about Martins? He can (and does) take penalties with either foot. Older fans would be proud.
