I was thinking the same thing. We've just beaten Arsenal, can't remember doing that in a while!BWFC_Insane wrote:TD given we've just deservedly beaten Arsenal all his marks were way off.TANGODANCER wrote:5.5 mark for Davies against Arsenal? Mental fragility, and all that bollocks, they are still a side of VASTLY skilled footballers.

Re: Trotters take aim at The Gunners - Match Thread
I know last week was as about as horrible as football gets but today was as about as good as football gets. Late late winner against Arsenal, Wenger's breakdown, Cohen, the sunshine...all adds up to a lovely day. Last week will haunt me for a while but today was a good answer to the criticism from the lads, I'm actually proud of them, we showed conviction today and what Arsenal and Wegner would give for just an ounce of the amount we had today!

Anyway, Wet Spam and Wigan can't catch us now.
So close to safety ... so close. Let's hang on in there boys, we can do this.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Wouldn't change it for all the world...
Re: Trotters take aim at The Gunners - Match Thread
I'd happily change it for going to an FA Cup final, but still.
Cahill, Steinsson, Sturridge and Taylor were fantastic today.

Of course I'm serious. Why else would I call myself Bobo the Clown. It's not just because I have size 28 feet and a round, red nose you know.

Childish, but I'm lovin' the sheer glee of the bloke on the left...CarlosHernandez wrote:Wonderful support for the boys for large portions of the match too, and our biggest attendance of the season?

Very good performance in a number of ways. Early one Arsenal tried to get roadrunner Walcott 1v1 against Robbo as much as possible. Robbo refused to buckle. Kevin Davies put in an astonishing shift; he may no longer have the speed but by gum he had the determination today.
We deserved to go in front after having more of the first half and we could have been cruising had we scored the penalty – but you know what, I like it better this way. They put us under intense pressure and we took it, still looking to pass out of defence, but still mixing it up. Special mention here for Cahill. I will miss that man immensely when he leaves; I only hope the team doesn't. Coyle's idea of a defender – able to work hard and throw himself in the line of fire, yet determined to play football and pass the thing.
And then? Arguably Coyle's first ever "defensive" substitution (on paper, at least - in essence though, Cohen's arrival just pushed Elmander up front) showed wisdom not long after bringing Mavis on for Muamba showed determination. And Cohen, the quiet man, the man with the mission, I almost burst into tears for the fella. Brilliant, brilliant stuff.

You watched a different game, fella. I'm normally SKD's biggest fan, but he was off the pace today. Arsenal put two on Sturridge at all times, they knew that he's our danger man, it doesn't take a genius to work it out. Three and four on Davies? Behave!TANGODANCER wrote:5.5 mark for Davies against Arsenal? Mad. His penaty was bad, but he got amongst the defence (often three or four around him) and worked his bollox off. Might not rate man of the match, but 5.5 FFS? .

Re: Trotters take aim at The Gunners - Match Thread
Must have. I was sat on their eighteen yard line and had some real close views of him second half. I will conceede his presence was minimalised second half because we spent so much time defending, but I was complaining about the 5.5 rating rather than a super performance from him.Bruce Rioja wrote:You watched a different game, fella. Re: Trotters take aim at The Gunners - Match Thread
Yeah I thought Davies was a little off today, he didn't have a bad game it just wasn't as good as others.
Such a brilliant atmosphere today, its very rare to get that at the Reebok.
I'm going to frame that photo of Wenger!
