Mendy? **Runs for cover**. Ended up playing up front pretty much. May have been useless, but he was fecking lightening.

Re: Hate to say this....
Sam had a stat that about 60 percent of our goals directly involved Mendy and Gardner in that run-in. I'm sure they both played as the wide men after christmas.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Re: Hate to say this....
Me too. He was pretty useless, but he didn't half frighten people. Pretty sure Gardner was a flying left back tho
Someat like:
-------------Pedersen-----------
Djorkaeff-Okocha-Mendy
---Frandsen---Campo--
Wasn't it?

Am I missing something here or was Nicolas Anelka a dream?bobo the clown wrote:In the end I'd take Wilshire. Not that I'd turn either down.
But Sturridge shows what we've all known for years ; ... we need a fast, pacy striker.
I actually can't recall our last truly fast forward ... unless it was Steve (Roadrunner) Taylor ?? (Isiah Rankin does NOT count)
Re: Hate to say this....
To answer the question on the previous page, Wilshere every time.
Any comparison is slightly clouded by the fact Sturridge is in the form of his life. He's been excellent for us, but it'll be interesting to see how his career pans out from here.
Wilshere has starred in one of the better midfields in the world this season, and generally I think he's the better talent.

Not entirely sure how we all forgot about Anelka. Maybe coz he was so much more than pace?
I'd turn BWFCi's point around and say that, as good as he has been for us, I'd be surprised at anyone who would rather have Sturridge. LK probably sums it up though. I'd not complain at either.

Re: Hate to say this....
Sturridge for me, although out of preference both, and given we certainly aren't going to get one of them and probably aren't going to get the other, then it's all somewhat semantic.
2 more goals this season would be our best ever Prem haul..

Of course both would be great. I'm not diminishing Wilshere at all. He's a fantastic prospect. Absolutely.Prufrock wrote:Not entirely sure how we all forgot about Anelka. Maybe coz he was so much more than pace?

But Sturridge has the potential to score 20 goals a season for us and also lead the line. There aren't many strikers like that around. Even fewer we'll find easy to bring here.
Wilshere is a great little player, but doesn't score goals and does not seem to create a lot of goals either in what is a very good side. Of course he's better than anything we've got.
But I'd rather have Holden and Muamba in midfield and SKD and Sturridge up front than Holden and Wilshere in midfield with SKD and Klasnic up front.
Strikers who score goals and have pace and strength will always for me be a priority over a pretty midfield player. (Unless you have Drogba, Anelka and Torres in which case you probably have other priorities!)
