Jackburn v Bolton Match Thread
I know we have a game before this one but as there is only a few days between games I thought I'd start this one off...I see Zulu has been windmilling into the natives already

Going to this, confident of a result. We haven't had one there for a while and they're playing sh1t so we have a decent chance.

Hmmm Blackburn haven't won in 10, in desperate need of a result, we're 8th doing relatively well little to play for but we always do well against teams who haven't won in an age and desperately need a result to stay up.....oh ermmmmm.................

Jay-Jay and Joe Cole say otherwise.BWFC_Insane wrote:Hmmm Blackburn haven't won in 10, in desperate need of a result, we're 8th doing relatively well little to play for but we always do well against teams who haven't won in an age and desperately need a result to stay up.....oh ermmmmm.................
I suppose it's natural that some fear the worst – all fans think their teams give away dollies, and the results that back up our own theses stick long in the memory. Some don't have to, though: have we forgotten that just three days ago we ended holy Arsenal's season?
Re: Jackburn v Bolton Match Thread
I love and hate these games at the same time. I do enjoy the build up to Blackburn games, and really want Bolton to win. Usually though the result seems to end up as a boring draw. I remember a few years back listening to the Blackburn fans singing about us going down. Now if we win this game, in one way it would be great, but on the other hand it might be a nail in their coffin that would send them down.. Like I said at the beginning I do like the build up to Blackburn games. It's the actual games that are the problem.

Ha very true. But we are usually a soft touch for those teams, in cases where we aren't scrapping down there with them!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Jay-Jay and Joe Cole say otherwise.BWFC_Insane wrote:Hmmm Blackburn haven't won in 10, in desperate need of a result, we're 8th doing relatively well little to play for but we always do well against teams who haven't won in an age and desperately need a result to stay up.....oh ermmmmm.................

But hey the Blackburn game to me very much depends on them. Be our third game in 7 days we never do too well in those situations, who knows who will be fit for us, they absolutely HAVE to win given their other home game is Man Utd. Whoever they were playing at this stage you'd have to say if they come out really determined and put in a proper performance they'd have a good chance against a mid-table side with nothing to play for. The local derby bit may add some spice. I very much think its in their hands. If they don't perform or freeze, we could take full advantage. But if they work their socks off at a high tempo I think we'll struggle to match that for 90 minutes.

Last chance Saloon in the eyes of many of our fans is this game,do or die.
Please play as well as you did when you graced Wembley!!

You sound like an Arsenal fan. That didn't end well either.

Re: Jackburn v Bolton Match Thread
BWFCi, I don't intend to pick on you and I respect your right to look at life through a (half-empty) glass darkly, and you're right that sometimes teams with things to fight for play better than those in comfort. But some things I'll have to quibble with...
So it's a derby for them, but not us?BWFC_Insane wrote:The local derby bit may add some spice
Isn't that what we've been doing to other teams all season with great success, hence our top-eight position?BWFC_Insane wrote:But if they work their socks off at a high tempo I think we'll struggle to match that for 90 minutes.
Last time we played three in seven days was February: we beat Everton 2-0, Wigan 1-0 and Fulham 1-0.BWFC_Insane wrote:Be our third game in 7 days we never do too well in those situations

Sorry DSB, I meant the "derby spice bit" would give both teams incentive, perhaps negating some of the "midtableitis" we might suffer from.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:BWFCi, I don't intend to pick on you and I respect your right to look at life through a (half-empty) glass darkly, and you're right that sometimes teams with things to fight for play better than those in comfort. As for tempo, yes we have but I think we'll struggle with the three games in the situation we're in, only takes a small drop in motivation for players to feel their legs a bit.
Good point about those three games though, we did swap a few players in and out IIRC. But hey I'm not being a merchant of doom, would be nice to beat Blackburn but its hardly that crucial to us. Would be nice though to record a league win away somewhere before the end and a local derby would be a good place!

Indeed. If I were a betting man, I'd have more money on us winning at the weekend than tonight. Nobody's even mentioned the Coyle-ex-Burnley factor - that lot aren't going to applaud him for Judasing.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not being a merchant of doom, would be nice to beat Blackburn but its hardly that crucial to us. Re: Jackburn v Bolton Match Thread
Think a few unexpected results this season have well proven that there's not always reason in games. Stoke and Arsenal tend to prove the point. We'll need to play as well against Blackburn as we did on Sunday.

Re: Jackburn v Bolton Match Thread
I think it's nailed on that we'll roll over.
There's no real logic to that prediction, I'm just convinced it'll happen.
Optimistists should probably note that, until tonight anyway, we've only lost once in 17 games against the current bottom nine this season (in all comps).

So do I, but then you get a load of very logical reasons posted back at you for why we won't.Tombwfc wrote:I think it's nailed on that we'll roll over. There's no real logic to that prediction, I'm just convinced it'll happen.

But come on deep down surely most people suspect Blackburn will end their streak against us? Its the BWFC way!
