I think the one thing we definitely have for us, in fact I'd go as far as to say most attractive team in the country is young players. You look at the likes of Ramsey (if Wenger decides he needs games) Sturridge again maybe, Lansbury if Norwich don't come up, Cleverly, Macheda, Gibbs maybe if Clichy stays and whoever else emerges.

To be honest, id just be happy to see Coyle still here. Its accepted that Cahills on his way, so I just hope Gartside gives Coyle a decent amount of the windfall to keep him sweet.
French centre-back currently without club, will consider any role. Experienced plumber.

I'm hearing good things from Holland about Arsenal's young Japanese winger Ryo Myaichi. He's gone on loan to Feyenoord and they've started rocketing up the league, helped no doubt by Myaichi's pace - he can do 100m in under 11 seconds. He's still a teenager and they want him back but he's the sort of player to whom we can offer a Premier League finishing school – and the thing is there's more of them, shuffling round on the edges of squads at clubs who have devoted the last decade to hoovering up the globe's best pubescent talent: Arsenal, rags, Chelsea. Under the Scousecentric Houllier and Benitez Liverpool have tended to go for a more local approach - but that's also an option, turning these working-class northerners born with silver boots on their feet into the finished adult product.Prufrock wrote:I think the one thing we definitely have for us, in fact I'd go as far as to say most attractive team in the country is young players. I'd also add Josh McEachran to that list. Maybe a couple of Liverpool players too if they're not getting games.Prufrock wrote:I think the one thing we definitely have for us, in fact I'd go as far as to say most attractive team in the country is young players. I'd be surprised, although pleased, if Chelsea loan him. Perhaps if the new manager makes a big signing at the unglamorous end of midfield, we'll have a chance.jmjhb wrote:I'd also add Josh McEachran to that list. I was reading on football365 that he's only had 35 minutes' worth of first-team since the January transfer window closed. If Essien continues to regress, then he might get a chance, but they're more likely to spend £20M on someone else.

We can only have 2 a season though right?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'm hearing good things from Holland about Arsenal's young Japanese winger Ryo Myaichi. Two at once, four a season, according to page 159 of the easily-downloadable FAPL rules.BWFC_Insane wrote:We can only have 2 a season though right?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:... we can offer a Premier League finishing school – and the thing is there's more of them, shuffling round on the edges of squads at clubs who have devoted the last decade to hoovering up the globe's best pubescent talent: Arsenal, rags, Chelsea. Everyone hould know that from Champ Man, given some of the suggestions we've been getting.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Two at once, four a season, according to page 159 of the easily-downloadable FAPL rules.BWFC_Insane wrote:We can only have 2 a season though right?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:... we can offer a Premier League finishing school – and the thing is there's more of them, shuffling round on the edges of squads at clubs who have devoted the last decade to hoovering up the globe's best pubescent talent: Arsenal, rags, Chelsea. We need strikers - one or two, depending on how we get on with Elmander and Sturridge. Maybe a perm and a loanee. If we could keep them both, then it's less of a problem.
CB - if Cahill goes, if not, we're probably not too bad with Cahill, Knight, Wheater, Ricketts.
Central Midfielders - at least one.
Left wing - possibly, although probably wouldn't be disasterous if we started next season with the same two - out of preference, I'd start with Taylor and bring Petrov on as impact sub, but he's usually sulking like feck by the time 70 minutes is up.
Left Back - Not a priority, but I have a couple of free's that play for my local. You know what I'm saying...

Re: Who would u like to see at the reebok next season ?
I'd agree with most of that, m'friend.
We need to either keep or replace Cahill, Elmo and Studger. We also need to consider whether the ageing Davo will become less than a 90-minute player - perhaps starting to be replaced on the hour by a nippy younger man, or the more klinical Klasnic. (It's not out of the question that by this time next year, Davo + Klasnic will equal 90 minutes.)
We might also consider a new option in left midfield (although, buyers willing, this might be replacement rather than reinforcement). After that I'd look at the possibility of a new right-back, to put more competition on Steinsson than Ricketts does; full-backs are increasingly important, especially when our midfield is frequently overloaded.
However, most pressing (pun intended) of all: we also need an EXTRA central midfielder.

All bit ironic really. Big clubs sending proteges to " small club" Bolton to develop, and four of our current team good enough to be eyed by "big clubs". Bolton Wanderers Academy of Football Excellence?

Were CYL or Cahill to go, it's less of a problem. They'd need to stump up some money to buy them. We'd still need to buy replacements of course. Elmander is out of Contract. Whatever people's opinion of Elmander, he's bagged 10 goals this season, which we'd have to make up from somewhere next season.aussie_wanderer wrote:need alot of things. chung yong been linked with liverpool, plus elmander and cahill to go.
There isn't a huge amount of talk in the UK about CYL going anywhere at the minute - some murmers about Liverpool but they've been chugging along for a number of transfer windows now. Cahill looks to be on his way. Elmander we'll have to wait and see.

FWIW I think Cahill will go, but then we'll get money and can use it to replace him/and or strengthen elsewhere.
Elmander as W4E says who knows? But replacing him will be difficult as if he goes we won't see any money!
I'd be surprised if Coyle let LCY go in the same year as Cahill. Of course you can always get a bid too big to turn down but I'd have thought one more year from him.
