He might have a problem though as Arsenal may not want to pay the price and Spurs may want to but not be able to, again could be player swaps involved I guess.
If Citeh have an offer accepted though, can't see Cahill turning his nose up, not like these chances come around every 5 minutes!
He's 25, he can't afford to go to Arsenal and piss around for three seasons at a club who might carry on winning nowt.
City is a good bet because you'll more than likely get the Chumps league and I'd be surprised if City don't start winning stuff soon. Sure he'll have to compete for a place but if you've got confidence in yourself why would that put you off?

Good points, well made! I just don't like City. I'd rather he be at United than City but Smalling is the next big thing thereBWFC_Insane wrote:If it were me I'd go to a club who might actually compete at the top level for them shiny things.MJH-12 wrote:Good point, I'd be disappointed to see him go to Citeh because he deserves regular first team football and it seems City can't offer that to anyone other than a select few. They'll need more than one. Vidic turns 30 this year, Wes Brown 32, G-Nev retired, even John O'Shea's 30 now; I doubt Ritchie De Laet is going to step into their shoes.MJH-12 wrote:...but Smalling is the next big thing there

Man Utd aren't going to build the next treble-winning team with Smalling and Cahill. They're too impatient with failure.

I wonder what chance of a Villa move? He'd love to go back I'd bet, and the papers could get off on mixing up lots of player-plus-cash rumours

ZERO. As I said, he wants a move south and to a club where he will win trophies, otherwise he will stay at Bolton til that move becomes a possibilityhisroyalgingerness wrote:Man Utd aren't going to build the next treble-winning team with Smalling and Cahill. They're too impatient with failure.

True but I can't imagine United will spend £20m for someone who will battle it out with 2-3 others. Cahill's best options IMHO are Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:IntriguingMJH-12 wrote:I'd rather he be at United than City...

Liverpool is still a bit of an unknown and no Chumps League. Spurs, same, no "biggest competition in European football" and also may need to sell some players. Arsenal not won owt for 7 years and it feels like they're on the verge of some more wholesale changes.
City has the advantage of breaking new ground, being a part of that clubs history in terms of winning trophies, playing in the champions league and he'd not have to move.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
On the contrary, it makes perfect sense for United to sign him. Can bed him in (along with Smalling) over the next 18 months as Ferdinand disintegrates, then they'll have Smalling, Vidic, Cahill as their preferred three, along with Evans and O'Shea, who will probably need replacing in a couple of years, so it seems a good time to start beefing up the squad about now.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I guess it all depends on how much he wants to play rotation, with Lescott, Kompany, Toure and Boyata already at the club. Rumours that Toure is on his way out following the drugs controversy may mean they are looking at Cahill more seriously though. Him and Kompany would be a great pairing, so maybe you're right on this one...BWFC_Insane wrote:Surely City would be his best option?MJH-12 wrote:True but I can't imagine United will spend £20m for someone who will battle it out with 2-3 others. Who cares what option would be best for Cahill... I'm only arsed about the best option for us. Which will undoubtedly be City
