Re: Best thing
You take the Mickey out of us? How? Why? Because we don't glibbly latch on to a successful club? Because our club represents our town? Seriously, you haven't a fecking clue as to what being a supporter is at all about if you feel the need to ask us shite like that!Gooner Girl wrote:i would guess it actually feels more of an 'exclusive' club then being a gooner cos there aren't as many of you around (thats not meant in a teasing - taking the mickey - sort of way, am just musing things over)Gaz Tomorrow wrote:The worst thing is hoping you might (unrealistically) get somewhere (FA Cup semi final the prime example).
The best thing is knowing you belong, you have people who also support Bolton and feel exactly the same as you about the club and that we support Bolton coz it makes us who we are, not for the glory, but because its just us! It's what we do.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Eh? What are you on about? I was genuinely interested in what the best thing about supporting Bolton is, i'm not taking the mickey, i was just trying to start a topic of conversation that i was curious about. Whether the best things about being a football fan are generic or different to each club...Bruce Rioja wrote:You take the Mickey out of us? How? Why? I think you might have slightly missed the point of what she actually said there, Bruce....Bruce Rioja wrote:You take the Mickey out of us? How? Why? Re: Best thing
To be honest, one of the best things about supporting Bolton over the last decade was talking to pubs full of Arsenal/Spammers/Spuds fans, and saying "yeah, we're a shithouse pauper nowt kind of team. Whats your excuse for never being able to beat us?"
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Best thing
Having not been born in Bolton why would I choose to support them over all the other teams in the prem?
Cos they're the greatest team in the world, that's why.

the best is when you meet folk on holiday or wherever and they ask you
'so, what are you then, red or blue'
then you just tell them to feck off

Re: Best thing
the worst is watching us in partially full stadiums and sparsely populated away ends, with no original chants or decent songs. and theres too many chavvy knuckle draggers spitting absolute dogwank.*
*but that probably applies to most clubs.

Re: Best thing
I don't think there's much difference to supporting any other club. Everything's just relative. If you're a Barnet fan you're worst fears are going out of business, if you're a United fan you're worst fear is not winning the Champions League this season. We're somewhere towards the upper end of that.
I'd say currently the best is the pride that my shitty little club is among the best in the country, and we've got some excellent players who, when they turn up, are as exciting as anything the league has to offer (Cahill, Holden, Lee, Mark Davies, Elmander, Sturridge, even Petrov when he can be arsed).
The worst, is the fact that this is likely as good as it gets. Unless we can somehow find a cup to win, finishing 8th is our pinnacle. How sad is that?

Re: Best thing
Better than the other 80-odd who finish below us?
We have to be careful not to sound spoilt. You'd need an armageddonesque restructuring of the Premier League for it to be any different. I like that it actually pisses people off that we've pretty much performed to our full potential over the last decade.

The best thing is that:
We are the one and only Wanderers

Re: Best thing
The best thing about supporting Bolton is that most of our support sounds like its from the area and that while I'm supporting Bolton I'm not supporting Arsenal or any similar team infested with never goers
