Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011

Post by LiOC » Sun May 08, 2011 3:37 pm

Don't know if you've seen that we're in the senior cup final vs man u:

Was wondering if anyone knew any details of the final, was tempted into going but can't see anything, and know the reserves games don't tend to be advertised until the last minute. Not on the fixture list. Any clues?

It's in old trafford against united, from what I've heard. Not sure when it's on but I'd imagine it'll be within the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, pretty sure it's at Old Trafford. Is anyone else tempted by this? Been meaning to go watch the reserves all season but never bother when we get the chance to go.
If ticket prices aren't ridiculous, I'll be there.

I'll possibly be going to it. I have a few friends going to support one of the lads playing, so depending on what day it's on, I'll catch a flight over and watch it.

Isn't this just our 'reserves' against United 'reserves' every year, and we lose? City don;t even have a proper reserves anymore, they have a twatty name anyway. Ultimate City or some shite.

Well we beat Stockport to get to the final, and I think bury are involved too and any other greater Manc clubs, maybe oldham? But as said our reserves have been doing really well

Well, I have been following the reserves well enough now as one of the defenders is my pal. I am praying that we don't lose 2 or three players before the match (directly or informal agreement).
We don't really give them chances (compared to other clubs) and these guys need to move on. I am sure of 2 players that other clubs are seriously following up. OC should adopt a strategy of putting them on the bench and giving them few minutes for exposure

Not permanently, I'd hope?

Anyways it's Monday 16th May (next Monday), Old Trafford, 7pm.

Mowbray has been at the last half dozen reserve games to see the lad, so this would suggest a move of somesort. Lad has another year on his contract so it's shit or bust

I see Connolly as a good prospect, his range of passing is superb. Always been more impressed with him when he's played in Centre Midfield though.
He's been in a few of Coyle's recent away squads but never made the final cut, but he's definitely not too far away from the first team.

LL/TOM, would Connolly perhaps benefit from a loan to Boro? Probably not what the mashed-faced manager has in mind, but it might help the lad (and by extension us). Especially if there's a hole in defence where yon Aussie we're after was...

That was my understanding, Davey, but I'd rather get the lad signed to a contract for another year after next just in case he does extra well, y'know.

Us loaning them Connolly and then us taking Williams fills two holes, so to speak.

PS - Mowbray is a nice guy, and approachable, which shocked me, as he looks like a right grump
