Good point well made.

Another Alan Nixon exclusive. It looks like Rodrigo Moreno will not be returning to the Reebok next season.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle’s bid to keep Spanish starlet Rodrigo Moreno has been blocked by Portuguese giants Benfica.

Exciting attacker Rodrigo has caught the eye on loan this season with a series of cameo displays and is wanted by Wanderers.

However Bolton’s proposal to take Rodrigo for another season on loan has been turned down by Benfica who want over £4 million to sell him.

Rodrigo joined Benfica from Real Madrid last year but never played for them before being farmed out to Bolton. Now they want to keep him or get as much money back as possible.

Coyle is keen to land Rodrigo but has not seen enough of him to invest the cash that Benfica are demanding for the under-20 international.

Never worth £4million with our penny situation atm. Vaz Te MkII. And it's not even his season yet.

I think he's clearly better than Vaz Te! His cross on Saturday was outstanding.

However, you are right that spending that sort of money on him would be crazy. Hasn't shown ENOUGH for me to suggest he warrants a first team spot regularly. And he hasn't yet been played in his supposed "position" up front!

Who's leaving? Elmander, Moreno, probably Cahill, Ricardo.. Petrov? Was Blake on a 1-year contract?

One in, one out?

I'm sure Benfica will be phoning us up in late August, offering another loan.

We may even take them up on it.

Yep. Get him in.

Extra body, better than our current reserve striker (Blake) - could do a job in midfield. Relatively cheap too.

Works for me.

He's a bit shit, but I wouldn't be outraged by it. I assume he still has some semblance of pace.

Now, Wade Eliot/Chris Eagles on the other hand...

Course he is a bit shit, but I reckon he'd accept being 2nd/3rd pick behind Davies and whoeverelse

He's half decent but then would he come to Wanderers knowing that he wouldn't be first choice?

Cahill to Arsenal rumour again for £15m and again with time with a player in return as well. Mentions something about 5 different players being possible options, but only names Squillaci and Eboue.

Also on the site is a link to Turkish defender as a replacement for Cahill, for about £2m.

hmmmm.....
Which player Arsenal would remain keen to offer as part exchange was not divulged however one could speculate that it could be one of at least five players that have failed to shine this season. Most notably in defence, it is likely that Wenger would be prepared to swap a defender for Cahill rather that tinker in the midfield.
hmmm... Arsenal's defence is a bit shit - so - let's offer them to Bolton whilst taking their best defender off them??

I'd rather have the cash and have Coyle spend it using his judgement than have a defender that Wenger bought and found to be wanting...

having said that - Eboue isn't the worst... I'd not take Squillaci - Song... just maybe...

I know that he isn't the top class striker we all wanted but I think he is capable of doing a job for us (And not making the half time teas). He is leading scorer (14 goals) in a very poor Pompey side this season and I remember him giving our defenders a tough time when we played Burnley.

A decent squad member.

Way I see it with Nugent is that if he was brought in as a Blake replacement then it would be a good squad improvement.

But if he's brought in as an Elmander replacement then its dire.

And we all know given our finances and the fact Nugent would command a far higher wage than Blake that it would be the latter situation. And given that I'd be pretty fed up.

Especially as we'd be "waiting on the possibility of Sturridge" for our fourth striker slot so could easily go into the season with Davies, Klasnic and Nugent as our strikers. Not exactly "rich pickings".

Hmmmmm.
