1921 - we beat ManU in the Manchester Cup final - 2-1 at Burnden 8)

1929 - we lose to ManU in the Manchester Cup final - 2-0 :(

1958 - with Eddie Hopkinson in goal, England concede 5 against Yugoslavia - Eddie loses his place for the 1958 Sweden World Cup...

Is Dean Hayes the one who wrote the book and was then found guilty of messing with kids? I remember a story a bit back about someone who wrote a Wanderers book and was later sent to prison.....

If not, Dean, I apologise

He's a paedo so they pulped his entirely unrelated books. Not didn't give him any more money, but went to the trouble of finding them all and then getting rid of them. Just me who thinks that's a bit, well, mental?

Exactly. To be honest I'd never heard of this book until today. However, I'd love to get hold of a copy now and to have seen the guy's royalties be paid to charity. That said, regardless of what the guy's done, surely you can't simply divert his dues on moral grounds? Afterall, he isn't profiting from his wrong-doings?

It's the old question about art and artists, albeit at a lower level. Many of the most celebrated writers/painters/musicians have been fairly despicable people, if not kiddly-fiddlers. In this instance, though, I can see why BWFC wouldn't want to be promoting a man whose name brings shame.

or the medical advances made on the back of Nazi death-camp experiments...

anyway..

on this day, 12th May

in 1934 we won the Lancs cup for the 8th time - beating Oldham 4-2 at Maine Road.

also, in 1905, George Nicholson was born.
