The.

The definite article.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Aye and thats why this season will be alright. Nowt to get thrilled about.

Remind me were you saying what a great season when we finished 13 two years ago?

That kind of finish was ok then and it'll still be ok now.

If 41 points and f*ck all in the cups is great, we're into the stratosphere with this one.

It really, really, really, really, isn't the same.

Well perhaps in your and Caps universe, maybe.

Yes. The overwhelming majority of people would broadly agree with you. Don't worry about BWFCi, he likes his angst.

Decent season given money spent and time Coyle's had with the squad.

Could have been a lot better had we not bottled these last few months but overall, taking everything into account, I'd have taken this season back in July.

You only have to look at similar sized - and some bigger - clubs below us who would have loved to be going into the last game of the season with a Wembley apperance and being sat in the top 10 of the Premier League.

If Coyle's given a bit of cash to play with in the summer, because there are some massive holes in our squad that need seeing to, then I'd fancy him to sort a squad out more into his mould and be looking at another top 10 push and cup run next year.

The season we finished 13th we collected 41 points, played some shocking stuff and came at a cost of almost 20M in pre-season transfers.

Overall it's still a good season.
Lots of entertainment, some great results and awesome goals - and a team that wants to pull together for an inspiring manager.

We ran out of steam at the end - and far too often we were tactically naive - but that's where some of the entertainment came from so can't complain too much.

In the end we have about 16 players of mid-premier league standard or better - and when they are injured or off form we struggle.
Holden has been the great revelation - and Sturridge has been a piece of good fortune.
Petrov has largely been a waste of space - I never understood why we bought him - we can't carry prima donnas.

We are a couple of really good players away from being solid top 10, and a couple of defections away from struggling.

I started the season thinking anything more than 43-46 points would be tough ask given our finances and squad - so getting there by the end of April saves a lot of worry.

Shame about the end - but for the first time in years we have been able to experiment a bit with the squad players - and that has to be a good thing.
What goes around may still come around

True that, just hope Owen can see that maybe we could try out some of the youngsters against Citeh, although don't want it to be a whitewash against them

I'm not convinced there's going to be much of a budget for signings over the summer so I'd really like for us to have a bit more of a can-do attitude with our reserves. OC oozes positivity about everything else, why not our reserves? Are they really that bad? Or is he playing politics so he can get some big money signings?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Well I dunno but when your youth/reserve player of the year is a centre mid.....and we have no centre mids.....seems a bit obvious to me

Still happy.

Need to work on our away form and hopefully strengthen over the summer. But a cup semi and more points than any of the last 3 seasons is a step forwards.

We've played some excellent matches on the way, and some dire, dire shite.

But 'Twas ever thus.

TBH - for about a decade now I have been quite happy at this stage to know that I can relax and spend he summer looking forward to another season in the premiership. that's enough for me just now.

Success cos we've stayed up, but fcuk me, it's a good job there was nowt on todays game

Naive, disorganised and the odd baffling selection, but heyho, it doesn't matter

But, it can't be allowed to continue
