Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
not a good display, there seems to be no midfield, just pumped straight up from defense to the opposition box, usually with the keeper just collecting it easily!!
Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
Obadeyi could probably give us an extra option. Looks like he's fast and a little bit tricky. End product is woeful but I figure we'll have better players in attacking opportunities for him to relax around in the final third. Worth a try, but we've all heard that before and he's not made the grade since he's been there so there must be something a little off.

poor game for O'halloran, didn't do much for his reputation tonight. Hopefully he can get back on form soon.

Poor performance, though they had a stronger team out than us, a few 1st teamers, Fletcher, Rafael and Oberton.
For anyone shouting for these kids to be given a chance at 1st team level, its wat too early.

POS has kindly done a report on the match.

Thought it was Fletcher who pinged the ball over the top for their first goal?
My views on individuals
Obadeyi was an absolute disaster anywhere but running with the ball at a sole defender in the final third, he'll never make it as his football brain just isn't there. When he defends it's almost a joke as he stands watching his man run past him off the ball. This is what the Swindon fans said isn't it - athlete we're trying to make into a footballer.
Vela - didn't show me why he was POTY.
Eaves - looked a man amongst boys physically, decent in the air but his touch deserted him as the game wore on and I'd left by the time he scored, soz Tom.
O'Halloran - Probably capable of more than he showed, neat and tidy at times but crowded out at others.
Lainton - got a massive kick!

So basically everybody is shit and people want them in the first team?
Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
It may have been Fletcher who put the ball over for the first goal but I didn't notice, and he was otherwise rubbish.Athers wrote:Thought it was Fletcher who pinged the ball over the top for their first goal?

I thought Obadeyi did alright when it came to getting the ball and running at people, but no he doesnt have any sort of all-round football brain in his favour, but then we knew that already. I did feel that maybe he'd become someone we could bring off the bench late on to utilise for his pace and direct style - but then this morning I talked to a workmate who supports Rochdale, who told me that he was struggling to make their first team. So not a first team option for us after all!
Eaves though, I quite like him, some misplaced passes yes but I thought he coped well with the fact that all we were doing was let Lainton leather it forward towards him - much like Ive seen happen with Jussi and Davies in the first team very often. And his goal was a pinger.

Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
I thought Vela was quite tigerish (see I said so earlier) from the bits I saw, which pleased me cos he looks about 12...not impressive enought to chuck in the team Sunday but certainly promising. The lad he was playing with (Connoly?) in the middle didn't have a good game.
Totally agree on Obadeyi, happily bin him, never a footballer.

It was Blakeman in the middle with him.

Not sure where you watch the match from and if you know a lot about football.
Your comments about the players was as if you did not see the match and you just commented just to say something.
We may not have a strong midfield but Obadeyi looked like the only strength we used in attacking them. We should be asking questions about the strikers being in the box for the final product (but these guys are still young)
I seriously think that Obadeyi would perform well with experienced team mates who could read the game more and position themselves for the final product.
Vela had a slow start but he definately raised his game later on
I am sure that you have a biased mind towards some of the player, it would be good to hear you when these players leave Bolton and perform well somewhere else.
Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
I'd guess you're probably involved with these lads somehow...
No bias with any of these players as I don't know any of them personally - I can only judge on what I saw in that match. Once you're playing in front of crowds expect criticism, nature of a forum also. It's fine being positive about the lads and I do want them to succeed, but my interest is can any of them make it to play in the Prem and none of them looked ready - obviously a view shared by the club at the moment.
Obadeyi is 21 now and has mainly had uninspiring loan spells in his short career, the last one in League Two... Physically great and he has a trick but that only gets you so far. His positioning without the ball on that left hand side in the first half was schoolboy stuff not that of a 21 year old, at one point he was wandering aimlessly towards the touchline even after Rafael had moved in behind him.
If they make it somewhere else then good for them, it's so hard for any players to make it in the Premier League that we're only really after a couple at best to make it in the senior squad, so most will be performing somewhere else soon - nature of the beast.

Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
Obadeyi is wank. One of them that five years later is playing for Chorley. Only other one I've seen enough of to judge is Ward, and he is definitely a footballer. I'm not sure he is good enough to make it at Premiership level, but he'll be a League 1/ Championship player no doubts.

Absolutely. Tippy Tappy Obadeyi was even shit at Rochdale. Not about to morph into a goodun anytime soon.Prufrock wrote:Obadeyi is wank. One of them that five years later is playing for Chorley.

Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
I suppose we can only tell if the players are going to be any good if we give them a run in the first team. After all Florent Laville was meant to be on the decline before he came to us and look how well he did, he fit right in. Kevin Davies similarly. Whose to say what Eaves can contribute in the air won't help us out or maybe the running and odd trick that Obadeyi provides won't give us that little bit of extra pace we require. It's worth considering at least.

Re: Manchester Senior Cup Final 2011
It's difficult with Eaves.. He looks like he can bully reserve defences, but it's different against more savvy first team defenders.
I know he's pretty massive and he's playing against fully grown men week in week out, but here's my theory.
As a defender, you learn firstly how to defend and then secondly, how to be a brute.
As a bis striker, you learn how to be a brute, then how to play preoperly as a forward.
For that reason, he may not get anywhere as near as much change from a pretty limited but tough defender, than he would against a talented young defender.
