Re: Who stays, who goes, who comes in?
I think one of the mistakes Coyle made this season was allowing Knight straight back in the team when he came back from injury.
I appreciate that he's the senior pro, but I'm not aware of any reason (injury etc) for him to have been brought back instead of Wheater, who had been part of the great FA cup wins (3 away from home at Premier League grounds on the bounce). I'm sure it disjointed the defence just at the wrong time. And Knight hasn't come back in great form.
That aside, we're not doing too badly with our four first choicers there being Cahill, Knight, Wheater and Ricketts.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Who stays, who goes, who comes in?
Why? Because what you're saying is that the reason that our defence has been at sixes and sevens is because of a midfield that has a bloke that's specifically employed to protect them and another that has a foot in two camps. Obviously you were happier under Megson then whereby the purpose of midfield was to save the defence from doing its job and not to support the attack?! Fair enough!Nobbys Belly wrote:I would agree with you but Holden has been injured for some time and Moo patently cannot do it all on his own. This has been cited plenty of times by many forumers.....why is my suggestion so fecking riduculous?

Past seasons don't really count for anything in my book, but that said, I'm not saying we should get rid of himaussie_wanderer wrote:easy to say get rid of these players

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

he was the expert summariser on the R5 commentary citeh/stoke last night... he needs a new club or for us to keep him - cos a radio career isn't beckoning yet!aussie_wanderer wrote:easy to say get rid of these players

It does for most people where Elmander is concerned!Armchair Wanderer wrote:Past seasons don't really count for anything in my book, but that said, I'm not saying we should get rid of himaussie_wanderer wrote:easy to say get rid of these players

Well, I'd say judge him on how he's playing now, as opposed to how he was playing under the ginger ninja. He's been played out of position though so it maybe you can't judge him on recent performances. If we hadn't had SKD/Sturridge/midfield problems we'd be able to judge him on his performances up front.Beefheart wrote:It does for most people where Elmander is concerned!

It still worries me that Coyle sees Gardner as a central midfielder...

If all we have on the left is Taylor and Petrov, then a Left winger is a must buy this summer

Re: Who stays, who goes, who comes in?
Gardner started as a midfielder, moved back to midfield by the man who can't be named, and as for Coyle, I am not sure. I don't think Coyle saw Elmander as a midfielder it just that Coyle couldn't see any healthy midfielders period. Not sure how he sees Gardner to be honest.Choppers wrote:It still worries me that Coyle sees Gardner as a central midfielder...

Apparently we have him on a pre-contract agreement.mighty_whites wrote:Have we signed Prately then??

Just cos players have contracts, it doesn't mean they'll be here in August

My cousin is a West Ham fan and watches them regularly. According to him and the popular consensus Johnathon Spector is on another level of shite. He was the club's whipping boy when he played regularly and I have no reason not to believe this opinion apart from a few ok games at midfield. I believe we do not want to be buying him.

we also used to think he was shite - I think it is just those goals in the FA cup against manU that have stared the rumour that he's not - plus the fact that he isn't played as regularly so people forget...
I can remember bolton/west ham match threads where we rubbed our hands in glee when we heard spector was playing...

Re: Who stays, who goes, who comes in?
I'd sign Chris Gunter from Forrest... he's a decent young full back with a good future and will proberly be willing to move after Forrest didn't get Premiership football for next season.....
I'd take this Ryo Miyaichi on loan from Arsenal for the season
and then I'd take a few others I'd want another midfielder as back up of both Mavies and Holden....... and then I'd use Al Habsi as a bargining deal for Nzogbia.... £5million plus Al Habsi for Nzogbia
and I'd take Jay Bothroyd seing as hes on a free atm!

You do realise that Chris Gunter plays for Nottingham Forest, right? It's not like Forrest Gump...Tals-biggest-fan wrote:I'd sign Chris Gunter from Forrest... he's a decent young full back with a good future and will proberly be willing to move after Forrest didn't get Premiership football for next season.....
